Very disturbed...HELP!!! So my pup thats 4 months continues to step in her poo. Wether I put her in a playpen or in her cage... Is this something she's getting use to and will do this even when she's older? I'm up to my last nerve with her! What should I do? I'm extremely stressed out about this issue. |
Does she step in her poo even when she poos outside say on the lawn? At four months, she's certainly ready to be working on doing her potty outside. My girls are like clockwork, they either wake up and do a poo in the am or immediately after their breakfast or dinner...sometimes they actually will all be on the same routine and then other times everyone is doing it at different times. So, if you can try observing what time she usually does her poo, try and plan to take her out "before" so, she get's used to doing it outside. The only time I leave piddle pads out is after we all go to bed...for those whoopsie times during the middle of the night. Training Yorkies takes a lot of time & patience...it will get better! |
When bella is in her pen she has a crate with a bed in it and food and water in the middle and then a potty pad at the other end of it. She has enough space but for some reason when she starts jumping around on her 2 back legs she doesn't care if she steps all over her poop. I have never actually seen her do it, but I crate her when I leave, and sometimes when I come home I find poop smeared everywhere and sometimes I find it outside of the pen as if she threw it. Then I look at her paws and there it is. Nasty!:mad: So now when I'm home, even though she isn't confined to just her pen, I just pick it up as soon as she goes, so that she doesn't have a chance to step in it. I have found a solution yet but if I do, I'll keep you posted.:D Good luck! |
This is not uncommon with dogs. They don't have the same feelings about poop that we do. Be grateful she's not eating it! miabellamoure is right, if you are feeding her on a schedule, she is almost certainly pooping on a schedule. Can you figure out when she is likely to go and take her out right before then? Or, you can teach her to poop on command (when she is ready to), and then pick it up right away. |
Another concern would be that the poop sounds like it must be runny if she is actually smearing it around. What are you feeding? A good quality food should have her leaving nice little tootsie roll like poops that do not smear, and are easy to pick up and dispose of. |
