Mommy's Bad Boy Likes to Nip Hello Everyone, My Baby boy in the past few weeks has turned into a little terror. He is always very hyper and thinks its always time to play (any other puppy right??) The thing that has me a little concerned is if you attempt to pet him on his back he whips his head around and will nip at your fingers and hand. If he is laying with me, he may randomly bite my face then quickly lick me right after. :eek:Does annyone know what this is? He is still small enough to where it doesn't hurt me. I am just afraid if my baby sister (whom is 3) comes over to visit he will bite her face. He is not doing it to be mean but its like he thinks it is funny lol. Any suggestions???? |
Yes, firmly tell him "no bites", when he nips you, whether it's friendly fire or not...And if he doesn't stop, then walk out of the room...He'll get it pretty quickly...About the hyper... all I can tell you is walks, walks, walks...I have to walk Apple 30 minutes in the a.m. and 30 minutes in the evening to get the fire out of her...Then she's got "that" out of her, and ready to settle down, chew toys, etc...I will tell you, from my experience, petting her didn't come too easily w/Apple...It's almost like "she" had to develop trust and love in me, first...She's 9 1/2 months old now, and only in the last month or so, will she let me just love on her and pet her, and then that's after the walks, not before lol...Just give it time, discipline, and patience, and it'll all come together... |
Remove the reward of attention when he bites. that be you nagging at him to stop it. Get up put him away and or leave the area. Give him the right thing to chew on. The more you notice ahabit the more adog does it. attention any attention to that which you do not want incresses the likelyhood it will happen. JL |
nip her right back. give her a little tap on the butt. nothing hard, just something to show her its wrong. |
