Inexpensive pet odor/stain cleaner Hi all I posted before with the problem of my Roxy pooping all over my kitchen... So now I need more help... I need to find a inexpensive cleaner to clean my WHOLE apt... My whole apt is ceramic tile and I'm afraid to know whether or not she's marked anywhere else in the house without me knowing.. So I got myself a black light and I'm searching today but I need a cleaner.. I might need a gallon or so of it.. Anyone know where I can a gallon of pet odor and stain cleaner.... Please Help I'm starting my training on Sunday..... |
Well the one that is used often with pet owners is Nature's Miracle. It works incredible well and I use it all the time:rolleyes: |
Where can I find it? And is it inexpensive? |
I tend to use vinger and baking soda. JL |
Nature's miracle is 10.99 at petsmart for a spray bottle. My mom says the vinegar works, but I haven't tried. |
Either windex or vinegar |
Thanks guys.. I bought a gallon bottle of nature's miracle.. I just put it in my kitchen for now. Because my back is killing me.... But I figured kitchen is where her pee pee pad was in anywho... I hope I'm using it right... I scrubbed the whole kitchen and if I read correctly it says to pour and let dry.... Tomorrow I start my first train day at 5:30am I hope everything goes good... I'm gonna miss her sleeping in the bed with me but I have to make a sacrifice I guess right.. :( |
A 50/50 mix of vinegar and water works. It's a natural cleaner and it disenfects as well. It's touted as one of the best organic cleaners. I always use that. If you don't like the vinegar smell (which tends to dissapate after five or so minutes) you can always add a couple drops of lemon in the mixture or get some natural oils (lilac, cinnamon, etc) and add that to the water. You can get a two gallon bottle of white vinegar at Costco, BJ's or Same for $3.50 and it lasts forever. It's also very good for washing whites. |
It's really not important what you use on hard surfaces, you can wipe away urine and vinegar works fine for this, but on carpet, furniture, or grout lines where urine has soaked through, an enzyme cleaner, such as Nature's Miracle, is needed. These enzyme cleaners have special bacteria that actually "eat" the protein found in urine, vomit, and poop. The protein is what causes the smell, and if there is even a slight odor left, that humans can't detect, a dog will be compelled to return to the spot. To use on carpet, I blot away urine and spray with enzyme cleaner blot again and spay again, then I let the spot dry naturally, and let the enzymes do the work. Vinegar doesn't have any special properties that will dissolve the protein, but it neutralizes the odor so that humans can't smell it. It works great on wood floors though. |
Thanks I put down the Nature's Miracle I'm just letting it dry now. Wow it takes long OR maybe I just put to much LOL!!! I had to scrub the grout so I'm hoping I put enough... |

Thanks Nancy I do want to seal my grout but its just that since its an apt I really don't want to spend the money to do it since it isn't my house and of course my landlord will not pay for it. When I first moved in this apt it actually still had the weird rough thing after they install the tile that when I would clean my floor it would look like my tile is has dark gray stains and its because they didnt clean it with the hard sponge afterwards.. I don't know what I should do about the grout? |
Ok so the area is dry BUT it left a weird film on the floor like it looks dull and when I walk on it, it gets on my socks.... Do I have to clean again with just water afterwards. The bottle only says to let air dry I don't understand why that film is on there... |

Yeah I agree but can you imagine if I would have had carpet LOL!!! I do want to seal but I honestly dont know how long I will be here for.. The tenant before me her boyfriend put down floor so I guess they messed up the carpet that was once there and ripped it off and put down the tile and guess figured he was doing my landlord a favor but now I'm the one paying for it because the grout is white and so is the tile it just looks white tile and dark grout because the grout seems to get dirty so fast... |
