Pee pad TERROR! Please help! hi all, i just saw there was a "training" form, so i am going to post this here instead. I am at my wits end with this situation!! Juno is trained to go on the pee pads. But he just ends up chewing them up. He rips at them, and eats the cotton "stuffing". I try to make him stop. He is 12wks old. How can i get him to stop attacking the pads? I have sprayed the edges with Bitter Yuck spray, but it doesnt deter him at all. I have also tried the washable ones, but he still starts to nibble on the corners of the pad. He will lie down on the dirty pad (eww) and just lay there and nibble away! Has anyone had this issue ever? Pls help! |
My dog hates pee pads and eats them! Found the Solution! When I first got my yorkie pup she was a terror! She hated to go on pee pads and would just tear them up. I finally decided to do some research online and found this great product called the the pet loo at Dog Potty Outlet. They have great information and resources you should check out before your dog drives you nuts. Yorkies are stubborn dogs so it is always a good idea to find alternate ways to train them like diffrent treats and stuff. I can live without my Pet Loo. It is a great inventions, genius!:) |

Pad frame holders, washable pads and fake grass systems did not help in my situation. My boy chewed and tried to ingest parts of those as well. The only solution for me was to take his pad away from him when he isn't supervised. |
I switched to the washable/reusable cloth potty pads, they are great! You can buy them online through ebay. I buy a larger size (30"x30") and got a dozen for under 3.00 each including shipping. I've been using washable pads for a few years now and had to throw away my first pad last week, so they do last through lots of washings (and I have a few yorkies using them) :-) Good luck finding the right solution! |

We trained Bailey to potty outside. But while at work, we kept her in an ex-pen with pee pads. Yup, if we were gone more than 4-6 hrs, she chewed 'em up. I quickly decided that there were no rules in the ex-pen and just cleaned it up daily. As soon as her little bladder could hold it all day, she lost interest in the pee pads. So, the short story - the pup ought to grow out of it? Good luck! |
I love the washable potty pads. They can't shred them |
Baxter did the exact same thing when he was a baby. So I decided that instead of shreadding the pee pads, he was going to learn to potty outside. And he did. It was winter here in maine, and cold so it made him go that much faster. By the time spring came around he was asking to go outside, and hasn't had a accident in the house for a year and a half. Good luck |
