Cool tricks Has anyone tought their pup to do cool tricks like roll over, play dead, and ect. Tell us what and how you did it |
Have you looked at other threads in this section? There are a lot of discussions going on about this topic already. |
When I read your thread I immediately thought of this little cutie I saw on TV the other day: I know food works very well in training. Never give the treat up until they do the trick completely. For example, I taught my two to lay down by walking them over to where I want them to be by letting them follow the food in hand. I would position them in front of me. I am sitting on my bottom with my knees bent up and they're actually between my bent knees. Now while they are sitting I put my hands with the food around the outside of my leg and lure them under my legs so they have to lay down. Say lay down while they are laying down and give them the treat. I hope I explained that okay. Did it make sense? |

Contessa can sit, lay, shake and half way roll over you have to have her complete attention on the treat for her to follow around as she rolls over. LOL! Sebastian can sit, shake, beg, lay and get in his purse. Autumn can sit, shake, and lay. Still trying other tricks. They all stay or go and lay down when told.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Jackson can sit, stay, lay down, come, shake, high five, bang (play dead), roll over and dance. It took time and patience, but what I did was work on a new trick every night for 10-20 minutes at a time. He picked up things really quickly. "Bang bang" took the longest, every night of doing it for about 2 weeks at 10 minutes at a time. I would do the gun motion and say "bang bang" and then push him over sort of. He eventually just got it. |
jilliedog has a bunch of videos on youtube. There is also a training video on how he got her to push a little cart. She has her own website too: jilliedog.com |
