barking in car When at home Jackson will bark while looking out the screen door. I pick him up and block him in the kitchen and say "No Bark'. He seems to be learning and the method seems to be working at home The problem is he still barks in the car and scares me to death when i am driving. He will suddenly bark on the hwy seemingly at nothing at all. When parked he gos crazy when he see's other people. Camping is a nightmare also . He barks at everyone and we are afraid he will disturb others. I tried a bark collar that makes a sound but he got used to the sound and kept barking. Any suggestions would be helpfull and thanks |
Gee thought someone on here might have some suggestions.:( |
Yeah you would think others would have this problem. I'm sorry, luckily my Roscoe is not a barker too bad except sometimes at other dogs. Maybe you could get some ideas from Dog Whisperer or It's Me or the Dog if nobody has any suggestions on here. Good luck! |
Mine don't bark in the car. Sometimes when we go camping but if I say sh! they will be quiet. We just got some new neighbors and they will bark constantly at the new dogs. But I go outside they will be quiet. I haven't used a barking collar yet. Thought about it though. They will not bark if I am around I usually make a sound before they will start and they will not say a word. Now if it is my hubby or kids that is another story. They don't listen to them. He will just bring them in if they start to bark. That is his cure. Have you tried the collar that sprays something? |
Ok, so I don't have any GOOD advise. But this is what I can tell you. I have a 5 year old yorkie who barks at EVERYTHING!! it is so anoying. We'll have a nap on the couch, and the second we fall asleep he's barkin' at ....something (or nothing). If we go for walks, people want to come up and pet him because he's so little, and he just go's crazy!! He barks at squirrels, cat's, dogs, people.....wind...... Anyways, so we have tried a ton of different things. All have been successful for a bit but then he gets used to what ever it is, and we're back to square one. Heres my suggestions: - Spray him with a spray bottle with water set on the "mist" setting - Spray him with a spray bottle with water set on the "stream" setting - Shake an empty soup can with 2 or 3 coins in it. - Smack your hand or the floor loudly with an empty kleenex box ( boyfriends idea) - Gently pet him and ask my nicely to please shut up - Put him in a kennel for a "time-out" Now that I'm looking this list over, I'm thinkin' "no wonder he doesn't stop barking, those idea's are Dumb!!" Oh well, that's the best I got.... :idontknow |
Well, we are in the same barking boat.. Annabella (14 mos) is a consumate barker, (I should say shrill yapper). Luca (10 mos) follows her lead and sometimes barks on his own. We have tried, "No bark" at which time she barks. We tried "time out" in the crate and she will occasionally bark from the crate. We tried the water spray, but she sees me coming and stopsw until I turn around. We tried putting her inside the house, snapping a dish towel, the noise collar, "quiet" etc and all or some work a time or two and that is all. She goes nuts when she is confined and sees other dogs or animals. We cannot watch "Dog Whisperer", etc cause Luca barks at TV animals and gets Annabella going. We just back from the Alex. Meetup and NEITHER barked the whole time we were there..... And they were in the stroller a lot. Back at the campground, they barked at all the dogs until they were put in the X-pen with them, then they were intimitated... Who knows... I'm going to see if we can get some training for them, I'm not doing well. HELP |
Seriously.....What the heck!!! Doesn't anyone have a suggestion for us? I'll put in the work, what ever it is, I just don't know what to do. How come no body knows of a great idea? This is so funny...... I guess we just have to wait and keep trying the things we know..... |
Aww, I feel bad that we both have the same problem, but it is kind of funny really the we have tryed everything a none of the suggestions seem to work.... I guess we just wait for some miracle.... :idontknow |
Thanks to youtube I found this, but who know if it will work...... |
mine barks at my boyfriend mostly even thought she loves him a lot. she barks at me, especially if I'm not paying attention to her like when I just get into bed to go to sleep. She shuts up eventually but it's annoying... |
Thanks to all for their replys. Have been away for a bit so not on here recently.I have tried some of the methods here like shaking the can or spray bottle. He just gets used to that. I will try the UTube one where you reward for not barking . Maybe that will work. |
