Crate training??
 
So I put Arsun(my yorkie 6months) in his crate(more like a cage) with a pillow. He still goes poo in it, should I take out the the pillow and put back the divider where he is allowed only to pretty much sit or stand?

I guess I'm trying to figure out whether he's at the age, he can hold his bowel movements while we are at work.

I jus got another yorkie he is 6 months and I just started to crate train him. He hasnt went to the bathroom in his crate all he can do is lay in his bed or stand. There might be too much room in his crate. 6 months is still very young for them to be able to hold their bladder. It takes a while good luck :)

What is a while ? Mine knows where she has to do it BUT once I leave her inside of my house she always does inside as well. At least now that I got her the pads she does it there, however I don't like the fact that while she is smelling and she does it there ( pads) Im afraid when I take her outside she will be looking for that same "smell" ( pads) when we are on the grass, any thoughts??


PS: Also, mine is 1 year and 6 months old.

Removed all bedding from the crate until the puppy is fully trained
.

Encourage the puppy to enter the crate by placing a treat or a toy inside.Never forced him into the crate as this will create a negative association.Any time the puppy enters the crate,reward it with praise or a treat.Encourage the puppy to nap in the crate. At this stage the crate door should be left open.Once the puppy get comfortable with the crate, you may close the door and leave the puppy alone for short periods. Do not let the puppy out of the crate if it begins to whine. Such reward will reinforce the puppy's whining behavior. Instead, release the puppy from the crate when it stops whining to reinforce its behavior. Gradually increase the length of time he spend in the crate.
