Tired of playing "tugsock" !!!!!

Higgins has decided that it is my duty to play tugsock with him 8 hours a day! He charges my leg with tugsock in mouth, then barks at me, whines at me, and otherwise makes a big pest of his little self until I play it with him. I finally got Pogo to take the other end for awhile, but he doesn't have the patience of Job in his old age either.......

Higgins used to amuse himself so well for hours on end! Now he would like lots more attention, please........sigh......It's IMPOSSIBLE to resist these little guys! I usually give up and give in, though I just held out while I was here on the computer and he is finally snoozing at my feet......everybody be really quiet, okay?

[I'm whispering ... OK?? :p ] Higgins & Toto must have "twin minds"! She does exactly the same thing! Only difference ... she wants to snooze on my lap while I'm at my computer! That's fine as long as she doesn't try to sneak her little paw up on the keyboard! :) When she gets tired of napping and wants me to quit she will lay her head on the keyboard and turn around and stare at me as if to say "I want you to quit this and pay attention to ME!!!" ;)

You could teach your feet to learn how to hold onto the tug sock and play with Higgins that way. :) Though, eventually Higgins will figure it out and want you to give him your FULL attention...

Oh my goodness, no! A "tugsock" is one of Don's old white cotton socks with a knot tied in the middle of it. All my dog's have loved tugsocks and enjoyed the game! These days, many dog behavior experts advise against playing it, or if you do, to never let the dog win in order to establish your Alpha Dog place over him. I say hooey.....the dogs just LOVE it and have never given me a problem. We used to have a wonderful gentle giant Golden Retreiver named Harry. He ADORED his tugsock and could easily pull me right off the sofa, though he didn't. He was about 1 year old when we got a tiny, 6 week old Sheltie puppy we called Lucy. The very first morning she was with us, I was sitting having coffee with Lucy sitting politely at my feet. Harry got up and got his tugsock and came over and offered the other end to Lucy. And she took it! And that great huge dog tugged ever-so-gently on his end and played with her for at least a half hour. Mind you, he could have flipped that puppy into the next county, but he never did. They played tugsock together for all the time they were together. Pogo was quite gentle this morning when he played it with Higgins, too. Cute!

Toto's "tuggy" of choice is one of Pat's hankies with knots in it. We also gently tug with her for a bit and then let her "win"! :p Toto knows who the Alpha dog is and boy does she enjoy her title!!! ;)

Otis plays tugsock all the time with Mike, only Mike is WEARING the sock! It's funny, because I'll look at Mike's foot, and his sock will be stretched out twice the length of his foot, which is already a huge foot to begin with. Otis has yanked the entire sock off of my foot before, too.

Hahahah, tugsock with the sock on the foot. I guess I know who wins that one. :)

Since I have a Moby Big Toe right now, the thought of one of Higgins little white scalpels accidentally biting into that ingrown, bleeding nightmare, gives me the shivers. The doc is going to remove my big toenail on the 25th.....and I am NOT looking forward to that either!

I'll just hold that tugsock in my hands, thank you very much! lol
