How Many Times Should a Puppy Poop? My 9 week old (3 lbs) yorkie poops at LEAST 4 times a day and once during the night ... the problem is the 2 a.m. poop time (ugh)..... He eats about a total of 1/2 cup of food (some at 6 am - Noon - and 5 pm). Is this too much? He is ALWAYS starving and goobles his food. He doesn't seem plump at all, but not skinny either, he seems just right. Should I stop the 5 pm feeding and increase the other two feedings? |
He is fairly young to have only 3 meals a day . I would add one more meal . |
Most puppies will eat when ever and what ever you feed them Little ones ... below 16 weeks will tend to poop every two hours They don't have control so they will poop wherever they are This will get better as time goes on but it's more of a grin and bear it than something you can really change |

Jackson is 9 months old almost and generally poops 3x a day. Sometimes only twice though. It usually depends on what food and treats he eats. |
He shouldn't eat any less than three meals a day for awhile yet and adding another one would be a good idea. There is also way too much time between the 5PM and 6AM feedings for such a young and small pup. Adding an extra meal will help prevent hypoglycemia. |
