puppy totally attached !!! I just got a my first yorkie on Monday (Niko) .. I love him already!! One small problem with him ( well besides the house training issues, but thats another thread). my problem is he follows me every where i go ! i cant go anywhere without him crying for me. If i go outside just for a min he will wait at the door and cry for me. If i go to the bathroom he will cry for me etc.. I have only had him for a week and this "problem" started on day 2 ... just find it hard to believe he can so attached to me after only 1 day? anyone have any ideas on what i should i do, cause this cant he good for him.. thanks :) |
lol Baby was the same way with me. We brought her home at 19 weeks old and it was about 9 days that it finally clicked for her that this was her permant house :) What really helped was when I would leave the room or the house, I would look at her and tell her "mommy will be back". After a few days she knew what it meant and would not "freak out" when she couldn't see me. The hardest was at night until I finally gave in and let her sleep in the bed with us. (I was afraid she was still too small so she slept in a baby portable play pen next to the bed) I work from the house 97 percent of the time but on the days I go into the office, she still makes rounds around the house looking for me! |
He is missing his mommy and siblings. some yorkies though are more dependent and he may be one of them. I have one thats 4 that still follows me everywhere. You may just have to get used to it. What I did with Jewels when she was a pup because she would want to be held all the time was I bought a sling carrier so I could put her in it and makre her feel secure but I could still do my housework. I dont know if it was enabling her because she still is very dependent |
My Roscoe is the same way!! I have had him about 2 weeks and he is my shadow and if I leave, he lays by the door till I come back. If I'm not in his sight, he is whining. I love him to pieces, but I feel like he can't be happy like this either! I hope there are some good ideas posted. |
Aww ... the poor little guy misses his littermates Dogs and puppies are made for life in packs They don't do well when they are left alone He will most likely settle down after a few weeks when he gets the idea that you will be there But for now let him be your shadow |
Thanks for the posts everyone, I should have mentioned. I live with my sister and her daughter, they got his sister , so they have each other to be with and Niko has my sister and niece to be with, but he chooses me all the time ( i love my niko) .. |
This sounds just like my coco. she will be 6 months on the 14th and i got her when she was 2 months. Every time I leave or go in a room in the house she follows me and if she cant get in then she will cry. I can't do anything without her little nose hitting my feet because she is right behind me. |
