Would it be bad to make Munchie sit on his wee-wee pad until he goes? I saw this on YouTube of this owner doing this. It was funny cause the pup was sitting up falling asleep. Im not going to do that to him but thats how I got the idea. If i make him just sit there a couple of times until he goes and give him a treat them he might get it. He just might be there for awhile. I think it will be better than just hoping he goes there cause he started but then stoped:rolleyes: |
Personally I would not make him sit there until he goes. Just take him to the pad often and if he goes give him a treat. You just have to supervise him at all times in the house so you can catch him if he makes a mistake. If he makes a mistake and you catch him in the act just calmly say no and take him to his pad. If you find pee or poop after the fact, do no punish him. He will not associate unless he is caught in the act. Housebreaking is a hard job and will take a lot of patience on your part. He is a baby and he does not know what to do, it's all up to you to teach him. When he can not be supervised you should put him in his crate or xpen so he doesn't have a chance to pee and poop around the house. |
To pee pad train...you need to confine him to an xpen lined in pee pads and then gradually take away pads until there is only one. |
Unless we are holding or playing with Gracie Belle-and then I watch for cues-she is confined to a playpen with her potty pads. She always uses them. Have your tried just confining him to a smaller space? |
