Barking and Biting
 
Hannah barks and barks and barks. She barks at night constantly. Sometimes she barks out of the blue, continuously. I bought her a CD for dogs. It works 80% of the time. She barks when she hears the doorbell. Please help!!!!

She bites when she plays mostly. Ignoring her doesn't work. Let's say I am sitting on the floor playing with her. She starts to bite me. I turn my back on her. She will jump over my legs and bite me on the other side. How can I teach her not to bite.


She is almost 9 mos old.

I was actually doing a search for help on this same issue. Ziggy is almost 6 mos. and he doesn't growl, hardly ever barks, he just bites. He bites instead of licking me when I come home, even though his tail is wagging. He bites me in the face when I play on the floor with him even though he's playing with his toys and having fun. Its like its the only thing he knows to do is bite. Every situation with him ends with biting.

P.S. The spray bottles and the yipping do not help. The yipping seems to make him more excited and usually makes him bite more.

Okay ... relatively easy

The biting part ... you say that it doesn't help if you ignore her
But the reason it doesn't heklp is because you're still sitting on the floor :rolleyes:
Your pup is what? a Foot long? maybe a foot and a half?
If you stand up is she going to be able to still bite you?
When she gets too rough ... say NO! and stand up and walk away
Nothing else needs to be done

The barking
is a two prong approach
She's barking as an alarm ... and often if you acknowledge her she will stop
But here's what you need to do
When she barks you need to yell, clap or have some sound that will stop her right away ... even a water pistol might help
Once she stops CALMLY tell her THANK YOU
and give her praise
But first you need to snap her out of the barking jag
