Doggy LITTER BOX training for toy yorkster? I'd read about this/seen it on TV - but before finding my yorkie I found some great info online and it's even got a chapter dedicated to it in the yorkie manual I bought. So I bought him the organic DOG litter and a little box - and although I tried every method I found - he would pee anywhere BUT the box. FInally I put newspaper UNDER the box, and he now 25 - 95% of the time (I've had him only a week - he's 9 weeks now) uses the paper - but I REALLY want him to use the box! Anyone have any tips? My DH bought the box - and it's my personal opinion that it's too small. Rocky is a pretty neat dog - and if he goes in there once, he has no room to go in there again with out touching his own feces - and even with paper - if he's used it more than three times he pees around it - and to really get me "in line" he'll even pee in my bed , like "news flash lady! clean up my potty area or your face is next!!!" Anyone do this? Success stories/tips? AHH - also - what do you give as a TREAT for a "job" well done? |
I never had luck with a litter box. It is now being used with a pillow in it for a dog bed LOL. I like the washable potty pads. I have tried several things and kept coming back to the washable pads. They are the best thing I have found next to pottying outside. |
I didn't have any luck when I tried the litter box w/dog litter in it. They slept in it like it was a comfy bed. I've been using washable pee pads for a while now and they are great, except my dog doesn't seem to distinguish between them and the carpets in my home. I'm moving forward to a box called the rascal that has fake grass in it and hoping to train her to either go on there (it will be kept in the garage) or outdoors. I would like to have no more potty in the house. |
thanks for posting this. I actually bought cat litter ... the feline pine. But the dogs like to bring the stuff out on the carpet. I guess I'll go get the faux grass thing. |
