Problems with Yorkie in crate Hi everyone. My little Louis is about to turn four months and I've had him every since he was two months and every time i put him in his crate he starts to bark and cry and I can't leave him in there without him making noise even if I am standing near him. Only when it is night time and he knows I am going to sleep, he will not make noise in his crate until very early the next morning. What can I do??? |
Can you buy a gate and put him in a kitchen or bathroom with room to walk and play and a pee pad.. maybe if he had toys and stuff in there to play with and a pee pee pad he would feel better.. I dont like crates, I prefer an xpen or the kitchen... but thats just me... I failed crate training 101 with a big fat F  |
hi, im not an experienced yorkie mum, i can only tell you how I dealt with the same problem. We picked bella up in a crate (which was too big) but she was fne all night in it, then we swapped it for 2 sizes smaller. We put all her stuff in it and went to shut her in it while we went out for half an hour and she yelled the house down. So we swapped it for a slghtly bigger one, got her an electric heat pad and took the door off. We then enticed her in it with treats and when she went in it, we praised her lke crazy. She always goes n there now.Today we are putting the door back on, will give her time to adjust then start shutting the door fr a few secnds and open and treat her. Just introduce them to it steadily and make it the place they feel safe and loved in. Thats my view and it seems to be working............ so far! hope this helps! good luck! |
