Another potty training question So Max has mastered going potty outside when he is coming out of his crate after being in there for a while (mornings, and at lunchtime, and we've been using the if he doesn't go outside he goes in his crate and then try again method) and he usually potties outside around 4x a day. My question is how can we teach him to let us know when he has to go outside so that we don't have to keep crating him. The only time he has accidents now, is when we're playing, and he goes to get a drink, and then pees on the carpet. He caught on to the going outside part really quickly, but I want to help him out with learning to tell us when he has to go out! |
I am not sure that I have an answer for you because I want to know the same thing. I will tell you we are trying to bell train Rudy; have him ring a bell when he wants to go outside. Currently it hangs right by the door that we take him out and we help him ring the bell everytime we go outside to potty. We say "ring the bell, go outside". He hasn't rung the bell himself yet but I have heard this method does work. |
