What's next?? So Riot is fairly good at come, hush and drop it, and he is a champ for the commands off, no bite, sit, lay down, roll over, shake paw, and high five!! We're working on stay and he's slowly getting better at it. :p What are some more tricks I can teach him? And how should I teach them?? He's a big fan of following the treat in your hand. I just need some more ideas!! Thanks! |
play dead?? |
Awright, Riot! How about: Spin (very easy if he follows treats); Roll Over (he will need this one for play dead); Speak; Whisper; Fetch; and Fetch by toy name. |

He can already roll over, but how do you go from that to playing dead?? Do you just stop him halfway through? He seems to roll so fast, I 've never been able to get him to stop from going all the way over! |
Yes, you stop him halfway through. Maybe you can have him roll close to you so you can stop him. Give him a treat and a tummy rub while you keep him on his back. :) You can put him in a Down, then lure his head over his shoulder with a treat. Put your hand on his tummy right away so he doesn't go all the way over. My trick book says to practice this with Roll Over, so he understands the difference. I'm jealous you have such a smartie. It took Thor and I soooooo long to get Roll Over, that I don't want to push it for a while. He's still not 100% on it. Also, he is not comfortable on his back (he will never sleep on his back, for example), so I think Bang! will be very challenging for him. |

Trick Book?! What's the name? My Bella can sit, lay down, come, and roll over. I'm trying to teach her off, but..it's not going tooo well. She loves the arms of my couches, and I don't want her on them, so I will tell her off..and she looks at me like.."yea, I'm just going to stay here, and you can't do anything about it" haha :)..and as soon as I come to the couch, she jumps right off...so I know she knows that she's not supposed to be there..any suggestions? |
