My whiny little Yorkie I have a beautiful Yorkie by the name of Pistaccio, but he goes by Stash, unless he is in trouble ,then he is Pistaccio : ).He is a great dog, and hes a very good dog overall. He comes when i call him, i can let him outside without a leash without the fear of him darting off, and he never goes to the bathroom inside the house..knock on wood. The only problem with my baby is that he is whiny...for no reason..he has food and plenty of water, I let him outside frequently, and we take an awful lot of walks, but he just sits there and whines. He will stare at walls and whines, sometimes I think he just does it to hear his voice.Any recommendations on what to do? |
Oh my, did you just describe my baby Miso? :P He whines for no reason at all also. What's up with that? |
You didn't say how he is. Is he still a puppy? Has he been to the vet at all? |
Is he getting enough exercise during the day? Maybe he is bored?! |
I notice Remi whines when he isn't centre of attention, like a lil tantrum, "hey look at me, I want your FULL attention".... |
I'm not sure why he's whining .... when you see a vet tell them but you might wanna check to see if you might be the cause If you react to his whining by saying Poor Baby .... Aww what's the matter? He's going to do it because you're reinforcing the behavior |
throw him a ball lots ..then sit him on your lap and give him cuddles all day long our male yorkie cry's for his hair brush if i am sitting about ignoring him doing nothing |
Whining while just staring at the wall? :hmmm33: If he doesn't stop whining no matter what you do, then maybe he's in pain (and you might want to check with the vet). If he stops whining when you play with him, then maybe he's just bored or he just wants your attention. Teddi would whine when he wanted something, like a toy that was out of reach, or if he wanted to play but we're ignoring him (especially when we're watching tv). If that's the case, just be careful that it doesn't turn into a habit (whining to get something or your attention). |
My Suzi only does this when she really is excited and get get to something she wants. For example. We live upstairs , and there is a balcony. Our friends go by with their dog a lot. Suzi sees the dog, than becomes very excited, and whines, she won't run down the stairs, so that is all she knows how to do is to whine. She is telling us something, and i know what she wants. Maybe your dog is trying to tell you something too? |
I would check with the vet also! Nolee does this for attention sometimes!! |
Lacey is a little miss whiney butt. She whines for no other reason but to get our attention because she's bored. But she is only a baby and will grow out of it. Right?! If she just wasn't so darn cute... |
Capone doesn't bark at all, I've had him about 5 months now and I've heard him bark maybe 4 times. BUT he will whine all day every day. He wants 100% attention all the time. If I'm on the computer he will come sit on it, if I'm watching tv he will sit in front of it and stare at me, if I'm doing laundry he will take it and run and if I ignore him while he's doing this he starts the whining and grunting. So I think your baby just wants your attention. |
Keegan is a 7yo WHINER!!!! He thinks I should pay attention to him & only him! |
i 2 think it is just for your attention.. when i get home from my work molly gets soo exited she crys and then whines, after ten mins of play she calms down and stops. or if i go upstairs for something, she stands at the bottom and whines untill she can see me again. lol i think its funny..it reminds me of when i had my daughter, lol, molly is just as demanding, but also rewarding, i just love her to pieces!:aimeeyork |
