Help ME! Ok I know that training is hard, and I know that you can't punish but when my Dori goes on the carpet or where she's not supposed to, Do I just clean it, or how do I acknowledge to her that she's not suppose to go there? |

I say good potty and bad potty aand reward with a treat when they go where they are supposed to |
If you dont catch your pup in the midst of peeing or pooping youre just whistling in the wind and all yull be doing is making your pup afraid to eliminate in general This will make her poop and pee in hiding places If you see a puddle or some poop .... dont react just make sure you clean it well with an enzymatic cleaning agent and mark it up to having to work harder with him next time |
I've read in several places to never clean up the mess when they can see you. For the first few weeks of life the mother will clean up after the puppies, which makes the pups assume it's ok to go, and then after those first few weeks the mother disciplines and takes them outside so that they learn not to mess in their "den". I usually have my boyfriend take Kya to the other room, or if it's just us 2, I put her in my room or in her crate while I clean up the mess. Good luck! If you catch her in the act try picking her up and taking her where you want her to go, then praise and reward! |
You definitely can't discipline them if you don't catch them in the act. If you catch them peeing, try to stop them and take them where you want them to go and then praise praise praise. If you can't stop them in time, then sometimes saying a stern "NO" helps or locking in a crate for a time-out helps. Everyone will figure out what technique works best for them. It definitely can get stressful, but just think positively. |
