Likes to potty outside and not on pads....
 
Hello,
My 10 week old male yorkie:aimeeyork just came home 5 days ago. I'm training him on pee pads (because I thought it was the easiest and less confusing), but I'm finding eveytime I take my other dog out side to go potty he follows and potty's too.

Just today:
Potty pad ~Once early this morning.
Outside~5 times.

We only wanted him on the pee pads because we thought it would be easier for him but he dosen't seem to want to use them, he will sit on them for long periods of time and very seldome will use them.

Since he is willing to potty outside I think I should train him to go outside and just leave the pads in the house for the just in case. And leave potty pad in his sleeping area. -Do you think this sounds okay?

What are your thoughts on this???

It sounds like your older dog going outside has helped him. BONUS!!! lol

I would leave a pad down in case but I would definately encourage the outside potty.

Potty training can be one of the most frustrating things to go through and it sounds like your automatically steps ahead with this little one. Congratulations... and I'm jealous. ;)

I'm jealouse too! A built in teacher. Don't fight it, enjoy it. Leaving the pad inside would be fine, but you've got a good thing going for you. Use everything your other dog can do for you. BONUS for sure!

I have a male that will go both outside and inside in his potty pan.
I have 3 that use the potty pan and 1 that goes outside and he is the youngest and he follows the others. :aimeeyork
Sometimes the older one help teach the younger ones both good and bad :( stuff. LOL

Oh, I'm not going to fight it. I just don't want to confuse him and go back to day 1.
It's only been 5 days. But I consider it a good sign since he:aimeeyork came from a home where they were able to potty anywere in the house.:eek:

I'll leave the pads down until I feel he's 99% potty trained (which I see can take a long while). But I consider it a bonus too!:D

So where abouts in Michigan are you located? I'm SE one hr north of Detroit.
How many yorkies do you have and how old? How is your training going?

Wow.. Sounds like you have your hands full. :p I envy you for taking on such task.
My little one will follow the older dog:animal36, but the older dog dosen't want to have anything to do with him:aimeeyork. He's 7 years old and the pup is 10weeks. I can't get the pup to stop jumping on him. I know he's just wanting to play, but the other dog dosen't. Hopefully in time they will both get use to each other and things may calm down??

Oh, they all keep me very busy but I would not have it any other way, they are our children with fur. My husband is almost as bad as I am.:D

Sounds awesome to me! If he'd rather go outside, that's great. I'd prefer to keep the poop OUT of my house at all costs, LOL
