I need some advise My male yorkie is 14 weeks and he dont let me put on his leash or his harness. He keeps biting and grouling at me. I'm trying for him to go outside.please help:( |
He is a puppy and learning just give him some time to get use to it. Just keep up the good work with him.:) |
Don't allow him to win the battle. Place him between your legs, holding him firmly...correct him with a stern no if he bites or growls. You can also pick him up by the scruff of his neck...look into his eyes and sternly say no...place him back down. It will help a great deal if you get him used to wearing them inside. |
It helps if you have someone to do this with you in the begining. one person holds the puppy and give a treat at the same time the other person puts the harness on. It is new to them they don't understand what it is |

We had some similar episodes with Sophie when she was first home with us. And she still does it at times. It's a game to her. At first we thought all this growling and lite biting was her being agressive. So I had a friend stop by who bred and raised Yorkies. She quickly told me it was more "play" than "threat". Keep trying and eventually it'll work. You could always give her/him a "reward" whenever you put the leash on? That might help. |
