potty pad question Scamp does great in the kitchen, never goes off the pad and only misses (right near the pad) occasionally. When hes loose in the apartment, even for a few minutes he goes poop, or pee in the dinning room (I clean it will amonia/water solution) and he still goes in there, its not always the same spot but close. He also will do it in front of my daughter rocking chair in her room....I know he may have too much freedom...but Its only a few minutes here and there.....and its when i have to answer the phone or tend to something other than him, then i go later and find it. So my question....should I put a pee pad in those areas or no? My thoughts are if I do, yes he may use the pad, but is it teaching him he can go anywhere? As soon as he has his shots this weekend (last set) we plan to outside train him. Any help is appreciated. |
I would just clean the spot, and show him where the pad is again and again. I use the pee spray on the pas. That helped me a bit. |
I had a similiar problem but I closed off an area where Tobi usually pee on the pad so now he has to pee on a pad and poop on the other. Its the best thing ever! Tobi use to roam around the house and go upstairs to potty but he would usually poop by the back bedroom door but closing off a small area limiting to 2 pads has really helped a lot. Even when I take the gate down he still go on the same 2 pads. So try that... I am also trying to take him outside to start potty training but its so hard...lol We will walk him and play and he will hold it until we get home and run up to his spot. I saw this potty post (yellow) in Petsmart last week, where you put it in the ground and its suppose to help with potty training...but I'm not sure if it will work. Good Luck! |
