All of a sudden--having lots of accidents
 

Ok, I am having a issue with potty training again!!!! We use pee pads and we also go outside quite often. Latley both my babies have suprised me with little gifts around the house!! (I think it is both????) Even right after I have taken them outside????? Tayah is PG so we go out quite often. Am I confusing them by doing both? I have pee pads in our bedroom for the night and even in the day if they need it. OH MY what is going on??? Oh yeah and I thought I would throw in the fact that I JUST STEAM CLEANED THE CARPETS RECENTLY!!!!!! LOL
Maybe I should put more pee pads out?
Any advice would be great!!!

I really don't know what to tell you Renee. Have there been pets and/or accidents on the carpet before? The only thought that comes to mind is that maybe steam cleaning the carpets also in fact, in getting them damp from the "steam" cleaning, brought out some of the smell of previous accidents from a long time ago. IDK, I'm just trying to come up with something.

We are going out right now to get a couple different gates, the ones we have are not good for my father in law because he would have to step over them. Going to upgrade . If Harley can fit through the slot , Gary will have to modify! I am sure It is due to me letting Harley have free run too soon!! Also with his size I may have to be more faithful and take him out even more than I do. :) Thanks!

Our Roxy (now 5 mo) has done that on occasion. I figured she was testing us or something unknown to us upset her. She had been doing so well. We keep a pee pad in a corner by the patio door & one in the bedroom by that patio door. Having the two hasn't seemed to confuse her at all. One day she started going anywhere she wanted. DH got furious & yelled at her, which only made it worse. I calmly reminded him that yelling & screaming just creates fear & confusion. When he stopped, she got better.

However, what really helped get her back on track after that was placing a wooden baby gate propped with a chair against the corner pee pad is in & a small cabinet on the opposite side. Sometimes if I just propped the gate with my foot & waited, she wouldn't to go. Using the chair & walking away helped. About 5 min later I'd go back & she had gone potty & got a reward, & life went on. I had to prop the gate with a chair because the cabinet is smaller than the pee pad & can't get the gate to lock in like normal. A day or two of that & she got the point. It was funny cuz 2-3 times when I just stood there & waited, she would just sorta fidget like she wasn't going to bother doing her job. Then all of a sudden she'd just sort of do an obvious 'Oh I give up' do her job & be done with it like she understood I wasn't going to give up until she did it. :D Cracked me up!

Now when I tell her to go potty, she will march right over there & do it, but I usually don't even have to tell her. She just does it on her own. However now that the weather is getting to be decent enough to be outside will be a whole new story. So far when I've had her out, telling her to go potty doesn't even register. As soon as my new pee pad trays get here, I'll be taking those outside hoping this will help the idea transfer over. Hopefully it will work.

I am sure now that it is ME that needs the training, I gave Harley free run of the house too soon! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I need to be more aware of his behavior, and make sure I get him to his potty place more often! I will be home for the summer so that will help, when I am gone for work for 6 hours a day he stays in the x-pen with a potty pad on one side and does fine. Accidents happen when he is out and we are unaware. So that is the key!!! I need to be more aware!!!! :)

This is exactly the problem I'm having. Someone help! Its getting really bad. My lovely little Capone was doing so great the first few months of potty training, he would just go over to his tray and potty and I'd praise him and give him a treat. Now he's just going anywhere he wants. He will stand in front of me without any warning and just pee. He's doing it under the couch anywhere he feels like it. He's doing #1 and #2 all over the house anywhere he wants. He won't potty outside. I will take him to the park or for a walk for an hour sometimes and he will not go outside. He is 5 months now and losing a lot of teeth, could it be due to the stress he's feeling from his teeth. I don't know why he back tracked so fast, but it's wearing on me. Please Help!

i feel ur pain!! my charlie is doing the same thing. especially at night. like this morning we woke up and he had poo'd on the pad but peed on the floor. thank god at least he knows to do it on the hardwood. im going out to get some baby gates today to see if we can get him trained more on the pad. when he goes on the pad, i'm not sure if it's on purpose or just chance! but i've heard that that's just how yorkies are. for the most part they get it, but have strings of accidents once in a while.

My 7month Roxi is having the same issue. My fiance potty trained her and she was doing great, with a few accidents here and there, but she was getting better.. Then out of nowhere its as if she woke up one day and decided to rebel. i find pee under the kitchen table, under the computer desk, next to the crate, next to my fiance's foot (lol)... and now she will sometimes go on the arm rest of the couch.. I bought a petzyme product that supposedly helps and takes away the scent of their urine in places where it doesnt belong... for about 3 days, i didnt find urine anywhere... then it all went down hill...
so i feel your pain...

Same here...Olivia went downhill during the cold/wet/icy winter weather. Now, no matter how often I take her out - at least every hour or so, she still has accidents. I just don't get it...:confused: I too steam-cleaned my carpets, use the enzymes.

i did the liquid enzyme again. i used it to mop the floors... but the second time around it didnt work. her pottying all over has begun to rub off on our other puppy Jojo who is a jack...
Roxi has the tendency to hold in her pee... so whenever you play with her or someone comes over, this big puddle of pee is all over cuz she gets so excited and finally cant hold it in anymore. im thinkin maybe i should get a trainer - although i would hate to get to that point.

When my dog started having accidents it was because he had a bladder infection. Once he was free of it, it was back to normal.

I just steam cleaned my carpets today and it reeks. :(
