Drooling Stress case I adopted a 2 year old male Sept of 08. I started taking my female Lexi every year to the dog mardi gras events here in Louisiana. This year I took Bentley along with us. As we were walking around hundreds of other dogs Bentley started to drool ALOT! I wiped his mouth, tried to give him water, held him, but nothing stopped the drooling. It happened one more time after at my friends house with two other dogs. Any advice on handling this problem???? :aimeeyork |
He is very frightened. Whenever something frightens him, start giving him really nummy bits of steak or cheese. Show him that the things he's worried about aren't bad, but can be fun instead. ;) |
With that level of stress he may not take treats to do any counter conditoning so most likely a nice dose of prozac or preprozac like composuor will be needed. vet behavioursit should be seen. JL |
I agree that stress might be causing the drooling........I would go slow with introducing him to new environments/situations,(somethings can be a bit overwhelming) letting him get used to things in small increments at a time and of course always giving him positive feedback which I am sure you do. Good luck! |
Thanx! Yeah I'm trying slowly it just makes me feel awful that his previous owners kept him so alone all his life! |
I did see that they sell calming sprays and such. I'm going to talk with the vet before I order something. |
