Yorkie has chew bone aggerssion Help :aimeeyork My yorkie gets very aggerssive when he gets a chew bone. How do I break him of this. He will also do it some times if he gets something he is not suppose to have. I need help. Does anyone have any ideas. Thank you |
He is being protective of the objects. Milo was like that with raw hides so I just stopped giving them to him. Everything else I let him play with for a min. or two and then I would take it away for a min. then give it back to him. The idea is for the dog to learn that that is yours and you ar letting him play with it. |
Let the dog know you're the boss, you're the one feeding him and you have the right to take it away whenever you please. Right when I got Jackson, I would constantly have my hand near his mouth while chewing a bone and sometimes take it away for a minute and then give it right back. To let him know I wasn't there to take his bone away or anything, but I'm the boss. I also would put my hand in his food bowl occasionally while feeding him. Plus he's constantly around a little 1 year old who is always trying to take things away from him. I wanted to get him used to it at a young age. |
Do Not let this behavior get going A lot of dogs get food aggressive and aggressive over some objects If you ever see a pack of wolves around a carcas you'll see that snarling and snapping is actually a dog behavior around food But it's not acceptable around people Don't be afraid of you dog You need to get in there and be able to take the food or the toy from them |
He did have food aggerssion also. But I have worked with him on that I can put my hand in his bowl, and can pet him now when he is eating. I will work on taking his bones or toys away and give them right back. Thank you for your help. |
