Wonderful Website on Clicker Training |
Thanks! Ringo this site is excellent! When I first got Tini I wanted to do the clicker training but wasn't able to find a trainer. I am so excited to try the lessons on this site. I will let you all know in a few weeks how it goes! |
Cross post - where to find a clicker trainer I actually pulled this link as an "andendum" to a post I put up a few days ago in response to someone's request as to where to find an obedience instructor. Well, I think it fits here too: Karen Pryor is the person who brought clicker training to the dog world. She has her own website and there is a ton of information on that site. http:clickertraining.com. Among which is this: a listing of clicker trainers by geographical location - all over the world! Here's the link: http://clickertraining.com/store/?it...0502_whatsnews Hoping to add a section on clicker training to my own site in the spring. Please check back! |
opps. The correct link :rolleyes:Opps - 1) I misposted the link (that's the link to the new clicker Karen Pryor is marketing!) and 2) both websites - clickertraining.com and clickerlessons.com link to the following page - where you can find a clicker trainer near you. Sorry about the goof guys! Here's the correct link: http://clickerteachers.net/ |
clicker training We did this training last year after we had a couple of embarrassing episodes in trying to get Muffy after escaping from our car. (she is so fast) It is very different from the type of obedience training I have done with bigger dogs and in fact when we first signed up, I thought this was the regular dog training course I have done before. It is based on all positive reinforcement with dog treats and a clicker. It seems to work ok but you must have the clicker and treats. Good luck. |
Thanks YorkiPower...I found a trainer an hour away and we will start next Monday. I hope it works out. He definitely needs some training and obedience. He's a handful! :D |
Carter begins his training with an Association of Pet Dog Trainers certified trainer next Friday. She is about an hour from me and I'm looking forward to making the trip once a week. Carter's behavior is tolerable right now but I want to be sure that we stay on the right track. I've invested so much money into him at this point, I want to be sure my investment continues to be a positive one. I'll let ya'll know how it goes! |
I am happy to provide "free" help on clicker training on this board when I can. Can't see its completely magnanmous on my part since I do sell clicker products but I'm mostly interested in helping people teach little dogs. Working hard to beat those little dog falasies! Happy to hear you guys are both hooked up with trainers. Please let me know how it goes! :) |
