Losing interest Sam is now 5 1/2 months and it seems like he is losing interest in him training, he get praises and treats but its like the treats is not even working he will come and do a trick then run off and play a little do a trick get his treat and off he goes again. Maybe he is bored?????? Any suggestions:animal-pa |
Try to work on new trick to keep his interest. Keep training session short, somewhere away from to much distraction. After a short walk is a good time for training. And try other treats...they get bord of it after a well. Something new that smell really good. My dogs go nuts for the Zuke's Mini Natural peanut butter... Good luck. ;) |
Thanks, I think that is a good idea. |
Puppies are all about playing. Keep the training short, maybe 3-5mins to start. Even training an older dog you shouldn't go beyone 10mins because they lose interest. A few minutes from time to time adds up and before you know it you will have a little smartie on your hands. |
Jackson does that sometimes where he will lose interest. If I can tell that he's getting restless or bored, I will stop, but I always end the training session on a good note by making him do one last thing and then he gets the treat he wants. I started the training at night, just me & him, in my room. He would either sit on my floor or on my bed. I switched up the treats too! |
Yes ... it's very important not to do any training where there are distractions of any kind Think of a dog having severe ADD ;) anything that comes by that has the least bit interest will grab their attention always make it a fun and even gauge their enthusiasm level make the training session when they are awake .... happy and well fed |
