So I had to get on and brag a little.

My girl alreeady knows "sit" "come" "hi-five"...little tricks....so I decided it was time to try something bigger and we moved on to "roll-over" last night. It took me literally 10 minutes to teach her! I was amazed!!! Of course she still has some practicing to do but wow, shes barely 15 weeks. These babies are so smart!

Now if we can just get down the housetraining!

Wow, that is great! How did you teach her? I'm not even at the point where I'm teaching Thor to roll over - I'm just treating him when he rolls on his back on his own so he gets more used to it.

My lil man is 11 weeks and I try teaching him but it's not working:confused:
He is getting the idea of where to pee and poop now, so I gotta start teaching him tricks:animal36

Wow... that great... Meka's got a few tricks, but I've always wanted to teach the "hi-five" but dont know where to begin :confused:

I just pretty much got her toy....Thats the incentive since she really doesnt like treats :/
Told her Chloe "roll over" in a pretty stern but happy voice and used a little hand motion like motioning roll over and did that a few times and then immediately rolled her over on my own then I woud give her the toy really fast and praise her ALOT! Play with her for about 10 seconds then do it all over again.
Repeat, Repeat ad Repeat.

after 10-15 minuites she did it on her own. I though it was a fluke or a coincidence that she did it, I couldnt believe my else so I tryed it again and even taped it on my camera, she really did it. lol

I've never used treats for training because she doesnt love treats like lots of dogs so I have to use her toy, which she loves.

Same thing for Hi-Five. Just say Chloe "Hi-five" and put my hand up.
Do that a few times so she hears/sees it and then actually grab her paw when I am saying it and put it up to my hand. Then give her the toy and praise her alot....worked really quickly also.

Wierd thing is I thought she would be difficult with her not liking treats and she doesnt seem to pay attention very well, lol

That is awesome! Congrats! Isn't it such a great feeling?

Jackson knows "sit", "stay', "come', 'shake' and 'down' to a tee. We are currently working on "Bang bang" where he plays dead. He came SO close today. I am determined to get this trick down though, it will be so cute. Maybe I should start by teaching him roll over first?

I'd like to teach him "high five" now too since he knows shake so well! :)

These dogs are seriously soo smart! Jackson's even doing pretty good w/ potty training. It could be better. But lately it's been about approx. 2 accidents a week. He's 5 months old. I'm hoping within the next few months he will be completely there.

thats so funny! Once she completely masters the roll over we are going on to bang bang. lol. I like that one :D

I don't totally understand Thor's reasoning on "Roll Over". He's fine if I flip him on his back for a belly rub, but he won't roll for me voluntarily. I've tried luring him with a treat over his shoulder, but he just gets up when the treat is out of range, rather than rollling on his side. He fights me if I roll him over, and I don't want him to associate the action with force. I'm able to flip him over really quickly if we're playing and I treat him, but we're a ways away from getting a voluntary roll over.

Do you guys teach left and right on every trick? Thor knows how to Shake, High Five, and Spin, all to the right, but I think he'll get confused if I try to get him to distinguish right from left.

well I actually dont know which one it is the left or right, she does whatever one she feels like I guess, lol

Curly has been so easily trained to do all the fun tricks. She learned most of them when she was about 8 weeks!
Sit, come, roll over, bang, high five, all those. Potty training has taken much more time but she's getting it finally.
I'm telling you all right now, that girl will do ANYTHING for those yorkie yummies!

I think starting them young benefits the training because they just soak it all in so well!
