Nipping? Oh Dear Gawd! The Honeymoon is over. What is happening? -Two days ago, we entered nipping and biting world. I tried pinning Sully on his side until he went limp, like Cesar said....it worked for about 10 minutes and then back to the hand he went. I told my husband I think it's his fault cause he's playing tug of war with him and getting him all worked up. Last night while he was playing fetch with him on the floor, the little bugger jumped up and nipped at his face. I'm freaking out because my stepdaughter is about to have a baby and I don't want Sully to get into this bad habit and risk having him do it to the baby. Any suggestions....or should I put hubby in the doghouse? |
us too OK, we are also dealing with nipping issues.... we have a 4 year old rescue. Most of the advice i have gotten/ used makes it clear that when it happens the play and interaction needs to stop. Usually we give her a quick "no bite" and walk away or ignore her. good luck! |

that's exactly what you do any nipping or hard bites gets a NO BITE! and the playing and all interaction stops But as far as play goes ... it's all fine until he bites then it stops |

Can I still put hubby in the doghouse? :D We tried this last night and it worked - it was hard to ignore his face, but we acted like he was invisible and then he just hung his head and went to his bed and sulked. He put himself in time out for about 15 minutes and then we called him back out and he was good for the rest of the night. |
Glad to hear that methods working. :) |
