I have Tatum's pad in the garage, so that she won't think it is ok to go inside. She is 5 mths old and is coming to tell me to go out. I have a 2 year old that goes outside, she also tells me when she has to go outside. These little guys take time and patience. I know its frustrating, but eventually they get it.

We didn't reset our count when we went to our friends house (who have a cute little pug) and Hiro peed inside. He was wearing the belly band and had a terrible night but we didn't hold it against him!! :cool:

quicksilver, I hope this week gets easier for you. Have you tried the belly bands yet? is he even old enough for them? I have no clue as I have 2 girls.

Stay on him...I think Max is getting there...he's part poodle, so I think it may take away the stubborness of the Yorkie, not sure...he still has pee-pee accidents, but you have to keep one eye on him for as long as it takes, if he starts to pee, grab him and say "no...pee-pee on the pad or pee-pee outside" either put him on the pad or take him out but don't let him move until he's done...then tons of praise and a treat...you will do this EVERY time...you have to be consistant.

Princess is almost three, and we still have episodes at least 4 times a wk. :( However, its more a matter of me not paying close enough attention. She will go outside if it is offered, but REALLY hates the rain and bitter cold so that is definitely gonna be a bad potty day, as well as all with the other dogs. I have resigned to buying diapers. Uh, not the doggie type, they are WAY too expensive, I buy huggies on sale, with a coupon, and just cut a hole out for the tail nub. Works great, except the one time I didnt realize she had to poop. :eek: We dont do this all the time, just when things start to get a little out of hand with her. Like rainy days. And we still go out six or seven times a day. Probably not the best way to go, but it is keeping my sanity easier to manage. :rolleyes: And I may look into buying cotton training pants (for skinbabies) so I dont have to clip coupons anymore either.

Yeah, the rain is definitely not helping us either.

So today again, I put Thor on the pad first thing in the morning and he did his business. One accident-free day and counting!

To be honest, I didn't want to get belly bands because I take him to work with me and I didn't want him to be mocked. Okay, *I* didn't want to be mocked. But I'm thinking actually that might be a good option for him at work because it's such a big area. I can barely train him in 500 sq. feet as it is.

Before I owned him, he pissed off (ha!) some people at work by depositing gifts in their workspaces. He is on permanant doggy probation there. I assumed that as soon I worked my magic he would be beautifully trained and never squat on a rug again. Belly bands might be a little more realistic.

Oh! I'm so excited! I know me bragging is probably going to backfire, but I can't help it! As of last night, we've made it ONE WHOLE WEEK without accidents! Even if something happens and he slips up sometime soon, I know we've made it a week, and we can do it again! What an awful lot of work though... I've gotten next to nothing else done all week, but it was worth it. We're a quarter of the way to a month. :thumbup:

I still wish he did more than walk over close to the bell and look at me for two seconds then walk away as a signal, because that's probably not going to cut it forever - especially when I someday want to get back to having a life outside of having my eyeballs glued to a 5lb sack of fur. But still, little victories. Yay!!

:confused: Unfortunally I know how you feel. I finally gave up, Well I go back and forth. My little girl Haleigh just doesnt get it. I have tryed crate training, pee-pee pads, I even started taking her out every 15 mins. When I would bring her back into the house, and take my eye off of her for a min she would pee.. It got sooooo bad to the point she would get up on the couch and pee pee on the couch pillows....:mad: So i felt terrible always being upset with her, and cleaning up pee pee spots. I finally broke down and put haleigh in diaphers... I feel terrible about it and like I failed her, but she is much happier, and so Im i.

I know how difficult it is to train these little furbutts...but don't give up just yet...there is still hope!!! I've tried the crate training method and just felt really bad keeping them confined in such small spaces. Anyhow, Cassi is ~98% potty trained (she's now a little over 1 yrs old). I've pretty much kept her confined in the bathroom with the pee-pad litterally placed in front of the door-way where I keep the gate up. Once she did her business I would take the gate away and let her roam the hallway or bathroom w/ of course watching her like a hawk. So after 2-3 hours, I would put her on her pee-pad again to see if she would potty. If not, she goes back in the bathroom w/ the gate up until she goes potty. Once she does her business, the gate goes down and she can roam the bathroom/hallway again.

The key thing is to limit their amount of space to a small area. So basically, Cassi wasn't allow to walk/roam around our living room..bedroom..etc. until I felt comfortable that she got the hang that she should only potty in the bathroom on her pee-pad. It really helped. Now, I'm potty training our 2nd furbutt who is now 5 months old. He's been pretty good so far, but of course has had a few miss. I'm hoping in another month or two, he'll be about 80% potty trained and then by 1 year 98% potty trained. My goal is to have them 100% potty trained by the time their 1.5 yrs old. :D

A puppy should be house trained by the time they are 4-1/2 to 5 months old. They are considered house trained when they go one month without an accident. At least that's what the dog trainer on tv said the other day.

"QuickSilver" I just dont agree on keeping a dog in a crate all the time. Its just no way for a dog to live... We all have our ways of doing things, And I can honestly say that I dont feel guilty for my little girl Haleigh, atleast she has a life.
