potty regression I have a 9 week old boy who we've had for 10 days and adore. He came paper trained and did well on the newspaper. We switched to the pee pads and he did really on those also until 2 days ago. In the last 2 days he has peed everywhere EXCEPT the pads. He stays in the living room all the time. We praised him and gave him treats everytime he did well on the pads and I'm home with him all day so I'm not sure what could've changed his behavior. I bring him to his pad every hour and he's been playing on it and then running off and going to the bathroom at different places on the floor. Help please! |
Wow, at 9 weeks, you definitely can't expect him to get it. That's just so young and there's definitely gonna be regression. I can't entirely help you because I'm outdoor training Jackson. He never took to the pads really. And he hasn't had an accident in 3 days! Yay. But have patience and consistency. Just keep doing the same thing. Have you tried crate training? |
Thank you and congrats on your 3 days! I don't expect him to get it completely, just confused as his first week he went on his papers and pads almost everytime and in the last few days he hasn't gone there at all. The breeder we bought him from said not to bring him outside until after his immunizations, so I've been using the pads. Did you get different advice? |
Some may disagree with me but I took Jackson outside after only his first set of shots. (He's 18 weeks now approx) I would walk him on a leash though to make sure he wasn't getting into anything. It was the easiest way, I wanted to begin training right away! Here's some of my old threads about potty training (I am NOT an expert at this lol! But anything helps!) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ing-great.html |
It takes time. Be patient. Good luck! |
Chipper is about 1 1/2 yrs. old. I just started trusting him to be outside of his ex-pen when I am not around. Each doggie is different IMO. |
Read this thread and maybe it will encourage you that it will happen but it will just take a bit longer for our Yorkies: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...-have-had.html |
