What could happen if she holds in her poop for too long? Lucy will not poop on the pee pad. I have a gate blocked in the kitchen where Lucy stays when I go to work. It has everything she needs in there: food & water, toys, the pee pad, and her cage. She'll only pee on the pee pad but refuses to poop on it so she'll hold in her poop. When I come home my whole apartment will smell really bad because she'll wipe her butt on the kitchen floor and there'll be poop stuck on her but she still holding it in!!!. I'm worried. What could happen if she holds in her poop for too long??? |
I don't think that's good for their system to hold it in that long from what I remember. Is there any way you can take her for a little walk before you leave off to work? And maybe take her for a walk when you get home too? |
Yes I'll take Lucy out for walks before and after I get home from work. But when I'm not there she won't poop and when I get home she'll be shaking and holding in her poop. I take her outside and it seems like she's trying so hard to poop but it won't come out. What should I do??? |
Hi! Sorry you're having this problem with your baby! I'm not a vet but it almost sounds like she may be constipated?? If she strains a lot when pooping and has hard stools that may be the problem. You might ask your vet and change her diet... :) Good luck! |
Yeah, I think I would check with your vet. May be constipation or maybe her anal glands need to be expressed. |
I think Dolce does that too...it seems she doesnt like to poop in her playpen...she has no problem peeing in there (on the wee wee pad of course), but when I come home from work I have never found poop on it...except maybe once. As soon as I take her out though, she runs to the pad in the living room or den and poops on there. She also has a hard time getting it out when she is trying to go....but its not all the time. If your pup is having a problem every time she tries to go....I would agree with everyone else and bring her to the vet. Maybe her diet needs to be changed. Good luck and let us know how she is doing!! :D |
pup I would clip the hair around the rear area...the stool is getting caught most likely. If she is wiping her butt, it is no doubt stool on it. I have been told dogs perfer not to do a stool where they have peed...I put down several pads and mine use one for each..odd..not all do it, but some. |
