My yorkie won't stop biting fingers/toes Rosie our 9 week old yorki, has a habit of biting our feet and fingers when shes in a playful mood. Im sure most yorkies at the age bite or fingers and toes because they are not sure what are toys and what isn't.. im just not sure what we should be doing when she bites us. Ive read some many different things online but I don't know which to do, because one site tells you one thing and than the next tells you not to do that! We just want to teach her now while she is still young not to bite on fingers and toes.. We have friends that have kids and im scared for her to go near them, incase she bites them...he teeth are soo sharp and it would def hurt a little kid...any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks |
At 9 weeks she is doing what all little puppies do and that's play biting ANYTHING and everything This is the time where you teach her what is appropriate and what is not When you play with her and she bites too hard or some place she shouldn't (You should never ever let a puppy bite or nibble anywhere near your face) You make a loud sound It could be NO! or a Yelp.... or NO Bite! Then you get up and leave ..... all games and play is over and you will see she will get the point very quickly My two boys ... even though they were littermates were both very different when it came to biting My Zach was great from day one when he would bite he would just barely touch the skin My Mike? Yikes.... He would always get carried away and we had to work with him alot ..... but he's fine now |
When my GD, Mimi's pup, bites my finger...I let out a "ouch!" & she looks at me & licks it. It's the cutest thing. When pups are playing w/their littermates, & someone bites, they'll let out a 'YELP!' to let the biter know that it hurts. Usually, you'll want to pull away the hand or feet after you let out an ouch, but in my case...since she licked it, I didn't.:p |
I keep trying this but everytime I do she just bites harder . I try to walk away and she just runs after me and bites my legs and barks. I don't know what to do.. its getting to the point that i don't like playing with her cause he bite is soo sharp! It's only when shes playing that she is biting me, the rest of the time shes fine! im not sure what to do! |
at the moment she bites you, pick her up by the scruff of her neck (as her mom would) with one hand, and use the other hand to firmly cover her muzzle and say "no" or "no bite", then put her down at which she must remain calm submissive, then walk away. hope this helps...:animal-pa |
