Advice on biting I am needing advice on how to stop Ciera from biting. She just chews on your fingers when you try to pet her or when you are playing with her she will try to find your fingers to chew them. It really hurts sometimes and I have tried holding her mouth and telling her no bite, but when I let her loose she goes right back at it. She likes to chew on my son too, she will play with him and bite his fingers and his feet and it really hurts him sometimes. He won't do anything to her because we have taught him not to hit her and to be easy, but he cries because she hurts. I saw that someone said to try and hold their jaw like and keep your finger in their mouth where ever they move and that will make them get tired of it and stop but she will stop after a min and when I let go she will just start biting again. What can I do?? |
I will send you my bite inhibition training info if you e-mail me at sylvanyorkies@yahoo.com |
Thanks sylvan, I emailed you. |
I need help with this too. Rocco is such a biter. Sometimes he is playing and sometimes he does it when he doesn't get his way. We've tried everything...spraying him with water, tapping him on the nose, holding his mouth shut...but we didn't have any luck. It is very annoying and I am scared that strangers will want to pet him and will get bit. Let me know if you find anything that works!! Good Luck |

wow we have the same problem i dont know if its just her age at almost 4 months thats really the only thing she does thats naughty. |
I have talked to others who have older Yorkies and they also have this problem. They said that they were never able to fully stop them from nipping. But I really want to try. There has to be a way! |
Gracie bit A LOT when she was little...i couldn't even pet her!!! I bought LOTS of chew toys and when she would bite i would say NO and then ignore her....she has stopped and whenever your baby loses the baby teeth is won't hurt as bad!!!!! |
If anybody didn't get the mail back from me holler again, I got a bit swamped and I think I got them all, but just in case... Thanks, Stacy |
Deegan used to do this, but has since stopped. What I did was get a pop can and put a few pennies in it and sealed it up. Whenever he would bit or do anyting that he wasn't supposed to be doing, I would shake the can. He hated to noise so much, that he would stop what he was doing. I kept doing this and know he's very well behaved. I don't know if I can take credit for him stopping or if he just grew out of it, but whatever.... he stopped. Give it a try. |
Tinkerbell used to do this bad to my kids hands. I put those latex gloves on my kids and sprayed bitter apple on them and let her have a go. She stopped immediately. |
