Omgggg lil Halo is driving me nuts...lol 1 Attachment(s) ok so lil Halo is eleven weeks now.Attachment 263940 sweetest lil yorkie-poo puppy around town but he has issues... i've been training him using the WeePads inside as well as taking him outside. so far he's been goin on either...pads for while i'm at work and outside when i get home and take him out. here's the kicker though. when it's play time (inside the house). i guess he gets excited. ok cool...he's a lil puppy...puppies get excited, butttttttttt i swear he want's to pee like every 45 to an hour. i did take him to the vet and they said he was healthy but at the time i forgot to bring up the random pee pee's all over the house. anyway is this something that is normal...i mean related to being excited or should i be concerned? another thing that is frustrating is that i leave him home during the day. i don't crate him because i wouldn't want to be caged all day so i can't see doin it to him. i have a huge laundry room which i don't use so this is his room for now. i don't close the door, it is open (child-gated) instead. anyway so i usually come home to check on him at lunch and take him out. of course i can't do that everyday and on the days i don't come home at lunch all h:eek:ll breaks loose...lol i come home to pee and poopy on the floor (in his room) and he's practically mangled his WeePad. he has plenty of toys, but nooooo he wants the WeePad...go figure...lol my question is...is this area too big for him that he thinks the WeePad is just another toy and he can go anywhere he'd like to...should i crate him...or is this normal puppy activity? pleaseeeeeeeeeeee help....any suggestions will be highlyyyyyyyyy appreciated!!!! thanks in advance.:animal-pa |
First of all, Welcome to YT! Yes, that is all normal puppy activity. I went through this last year, but I had a whole litter of puppies driving me crazy with their pee pee pads! There is really only a couple solutions ... 1. Get one of those trays that hold down the pee pee pads (this worked for a little while, but I found they missed the pad more because they had less room to do their little circles.) 2. Switch to washable pee pads (there are members here that make them - I get mine from Little Bit) No more shredded pads! |
Welcome to YT!!! Your baby is ADORABLE!!! Sounds like normal pup behavior to me also. Take him for a nice LONG walk in the morning to get rid of some of his energy and another walk on lunch if possible when you do go home. Also I have heard that a lot of dogs can climb baby gates, you might need to stack 2 of them in the doorway so its much taller. I call one of my boys Houdini because it seems he cannot be contained anywhere for some reason! I think they also make peepee pad crate type things that you can put them in so that it helps to eliminate them tearing them apart. I used to get ones that stuck to the floor and that helped a little bit. |
wrong post sorry and I cant seem to be able to delete it. |
Welcome to YT. I don't have any suggestions for you, but I see you're getting a lot of them. |
thanks so much you guys for all your suggestions. i went home today and he had his lil WeePad all balled up in the corner, but guess what???? He went potty on top of it...lol Well at least he went on it right? HIlarious. Another concern is very cold weather. I live in atlanta. yeah i know you don't believe me but the weather down here has been quittttttttte nippy, even for lil Halo. Should i put his lil sweater on before i take him out or is his fur enough. I mean the poor guy is shaking like a leaf sometimes when i bring him in! |
I'm in Montgomery and Gucci wears his little sweater and parka when the temperatures go down! He actually sits quietly and lifts his feet for me to help him into it! Of course, that took about a month of fighting with him, but I think he now realizes that it helps to keep him a little warmer. He'll walk the full 1/2 hour each morning no matter how cold. Now rain, that's a different story. He's done real quick! It takes time to get them trained; I'm lucky because my husband is home and walks Gucci a couple times during the day, and now he's about 99% trained.. Good luck with the training. Kathy |
