New puppy have some questions I have a 3 month old morkie and he loves to play and nip at everyone i know he is playing, does not mean any harm. but he is very hyper is it true if he gets neutered he will calm down? it is good if i take him to puppy training? :bulb: sometimes when he poops he doesnt finish and starts walking and poops come out of his but and makes a mess, also he gets some stuck on his hair around his butt, how can i fix that? should i take him to a groomer? |
As for the nipping, I don't have any suggestions. Pixie never was a nipper, and Bogey nipped when I got hiim (as an adult) - but only in play. It hasn't bothered me, so I've not done anything about it - I kinda enjoy getting on the floor "wrestling" with him sometimes. Training is good - but only if the puppy has enough attention to learn anything. If you have a puppy who's only interested in playing and will NOT settle down to learn for treats, training may be tough - at least for a while. For the long run, I think training was the best thing I ever did for both Pixie and Bogey - they learned to settle down and learned important things like "leave it"... and it gave us priceless bonding time. When grooming my dogs, I usually shave just a little around their butts to prevent the poop on the hair problem. It's when they start carrying it in their fur that I know they need another shave down there. I don't know how others handle it - but I can say that shaving that part (carefully) works for us. And finally, welcome to YT! |
We have a morkie too around 3 months. Same thing w/the poop in the hair. I used to wash his butt a lot, but they make wipes for dogs. It quit sticking to his hair after we had him a few weeks--once he quit pooping as often. What is he eating for food? If his stool is too thin it would probably cause this too. As for the nip stuff--yep he nips too; they say for a while with teething. We read about shaking a loud item when they nip. We use a small metal container w/coins in it. Seems to work--now if we show it to him, he will quit biting. He has hyper times, but it also calm too. He gets major hyper when someone comes over. Our guy is just over 4 lbs--what about yours? |
deff. shave or just trim the hair around the butt. this is gonna be a lifelong thing, so just adapt to it and fix the problem. I always have baby wipes near the potty pad just incase there is loose stool or a dingleberry that needs to be cleaned or grabbed..lol goodluck..... |
thank you for your help ill try that. we are feeding him Royal cain. thats what the breeder feed him and we kept it like that. ecko is 3lbs |
