Tricks Ok, Spike is 5 months now, he 'sit's and is in the process of learning 'down' and 'shake'. He also rings a bell when he wants to be let outside. I love training with him, hes so smart and actually gets so proud of himself when he picks something up LOL Its so obvious, he puffs his little chest out and prances around waiting for his treat. He loves to learn. I have a large dog that i have trained extensively with, but hes my first little one. I do notice that hes good on his back feet, he can actually take a few steps and he kinda dances around. (of course my 90lb german shepherd couldnt entertain this idea, so its a first for me) I would like to teach him to 'dance' on command. Any tips or hints from anyone who has taught this command? I don't think it would take much or be hard for him at all. |
Our dog Tico is pretty swift on his feet. He can stand on his hind legs for several minutes. All I did to train him to do this, make him sit first, then hold the treat above his nose, so its close enough to smell, but not quite reachable. He started this trick by accident, but i realized he could balance fairly well. Just hold the treat in the air above his nose. It takes practice, The more and more your puppy does it, the better balance he or she will have. Good luck |
I love teaching little Roxy to do tricks, she's 15 weeks now and can sit, lie down and shake hands with us. She also doesn't take the treat from under her nose until we tell her she's a good girl. I love it when she gets a trick for the first time and she gets all excited when I tell her how good she is. My boyfriend gives out that she'll be like a circus dog but he's secretly just as proud of her and shows everyone how clever she is:D I'm sure with a bit of determination your little one will be dancing around the place :) |
Fiona is a little smarty too, just like your pups. At 4 months old she knew how to sit, stay, and recently I taught her high 5 and wait when i give her a treat, she also knows how to lay her head down when i tell her too! they are such smart dogs! :D |
