going CrAzY!!!!...need to vent
 

ahhhhhhhhhhh bentley is driving me INSANE...he usually gets naughty before bed, but he is being extra naughty and its driving me crazy and im about to loose my cool. He is getting into eveything, chewing on everything, barking, growling, jumping off the BACK OF THE COUCH! Going pee on the carpet even thouhg he knows how to use the potty pad. Usually when i say "Bentley NO" he stops and looks at me and stops what hes doing, but now hes not listening to me. Hes going crazy. I tried putting him in his play pen in the other room just to get away from him but he started barking and crying louder than normal. WHy is my baby all of a sudden SUCH a handfulllllllll......I hope this is just puppy behavior and will cool down as he grows up...if not, i have my work cut out for me!

Does anyone elses furbutt get into these kinda moods? I sware he is going through the "terrible two's" that a skin baby would do!!! but hes only 14 weeks old...please tell me they grown out of this!

my puppy is doing the same thing. he is even bitting me. I don't know how to handle him. He runs around, eats everything, and even try to bite my feet. I try to ignore him so he doesn't think i am playing with him. It doesn't work. He has been doing this for the past couple of days. He wouldn't poop outside but did go on his pee pad. So weird. I didn't train him to pee/poop on pee pads. I have always train him outside..however we have a pee pad out in the kitchen for those late late night bathroom emergency.

Sounds exactly like how my skin kids get when they are tired before bed LOL!

Well since they age differently than we do , maybe he is in or near his terrible two's :D He's just having some fun , even thought to us it's not so fun :rolleyes: My older dog was crazy most all day , and especially at night when she was a pup , but she did outgrow it.

yeah he bites me too! and HARD! i try the whole "just ignore him" thing...does not work, it only makes him more crazy! he barks louder, growls and snaps at me! its scary even coming from a 2 pound ball of fur!!!

yess i totally understand where you are coming from. When he bites me I walk away and ignore him..he will chase after me and try biting..he does this crazy thing acting like I want to play with him..I will go and sit on the couch with my feet up on the couch so he can't get to them. He will try to jump up on the couch. He won't listen to me. He doesn't care and will go wherever he wants to. Crazy boy. His bathroom behavior is also going down hill too. aargh. What is wrong with my boy

For the biting - give a loud "yelp" and walk away and ignore him for a minute - his litter mates would do this......... it works if you use it consistently!

For biting things he shouldn't......... you need to teach him the "leave" command. Tell him to leave whatever he's eating/chewing, if he doesn't use a water spray and give him a little squirt.......... definitely works, eventually you should be able to say leave it without the water........ when he leaves it give him his own toy to play with.

Are you giving him anything that may be sugary to eat....... I used cheerioes (don't know if you have them over there) when training Rocky and he kept going hyper at nights. Stopped the cheerios and he stopped being hyper.

If its possible, i would put the lead on and take your pups for a walk, even if its a 10minute one. It makes all the difference to Molly, and she knows that when we get back home its time for bed. Make sure you walk somewhere well lit and safe of course.

I totally agree with this post. It sounds like your puppy is not getting enough exercise. I don't know if you work and he's alone during the day but even if he isn't a dog that isn't getting enough exercise will have to get his frustrations out somehow. It doesn't have to be a walk it can be throwing a toy for him to chase etc but they need some time to just be puppies

The boys were already up and awake .... that should have been my first clue
They were extra rambunctious the whole morning
and I had to watch them and stop them from gnawing on the Couch!
The rugs!
and just stop being extra awnry to each other :mad:

The I had to go into my bedroom for a minute to get something
and I don't let them go into that part of the house
They have plenty of room for now so I block them at the beginning of the hallway

They both wanted to be with me so BOTH OF THEM FORGOT THAT THEY ALWAYS USE THE PEE PADS IN THE KITCHEN!!!! :eek:

I wanted to scream

But I had to laugh ..... All I did was yell a surprised EH! when I saw the mess :thumbdown
And they went running
and I saw them peaking around the corner
"Ooooh He's mad"
They didn't come near me for a good 10 mins

{sigh} They are a handful
But still they are wonderful
It's really not them ... it is us

Yeah i give him cheerios when he goes potty outside. Iv tried the yelping thing and ignoring him but he still just thinks its a game!

I want to try the water thing but will it make him more afraid of water when i bathe him or have to spray stuff on his coat?

I think the point of the little spray of water is to get his attention and stop the immediate behaviour. I don't think it will make him scared of water, you're not dumping water on him or anything... just a quick squirt! I had a little squirt bottle for when Hiro would go after the cats. Now I use a penny can though. The water didn't work! lol

i don't feed charlie anything sugarly. At least, I don't think I do. His potty/training treat used to be the begging bacon strips. Now I have switched over to the natural balance turkey roll. He gets a little piece for being good. I guess I will have to try the spray bottle and coins in a can. He ignores me when I tell him no or clap my hands. So maybe these other methods will work better on him.

NO! Always avoid the face. You could injure his eyes if you spray there. Usually just a squirt to the back will work. Atleast that's what I've heard. :)

i decided to try the coins in a jar. Well instead of a jar, i put pennies in a water bottle. It actually work for a little bit tonight. He has been super bad today. I can't deal with him. I am wondering, will the loud noise create fear in him?

I totally relate with what you are going through...except my Rufus is 11 months old!! He does not bite (unless it's play biting); but he does NOT listen and he chews everything...

I have tried training classes to learn things to say to get him to stop (ie: leave it, wrong...) DID NOT WORK

I have tried shaking the can, spraying him, yelling, I even saved a noise maker from New Years Eve for the noise. All of those worked for a short while.

Now I'm still dealing with accidents in the crate at night and still in the house!

Anyways...here is my one piece of advice (I got it from some fellow yorkie owners on Yorkie talk)- Buy a "bully stick". I just got one for him to chew...He LOVES it! He is occupied forever and he even loves it more than his toys. He chews things less (I can actually leave my slippers around without him chewing them). He is really attached to me, and now I can actually do a few things in the house without him flipping out. I can't believe I just heard about these now! You can buy them at the pet store (I bought the natural cow ones-cause he has a sensitive stomach). The person at the store said one stick would last for a while; but he goes through them fast...i usually take it away when it's toward the end of the stick (a few inches) so he does not choke or anything, and I DO NOT give it to him when i'm gone or at bedtime in the crate (I don't want him to get sick of it).

Hahaha! Yep... 90% of the time I have the best puppy in the world... happy, playful, loves naps, loves his crate, doesn't chew on things he shouldn't, rings the bell if he needs to be let outside, etc. He's amazing, and I couldn't be happier.

BUT that other 10% of the time... he gets in one of his "moods" about once or twice a day. It usually happens first thing in the morning, after the first poop and pee of the day, or later in the evening when he's starting to get tired. He forgets everything he knows, whines at us to pick him up, then if we do he immediately whines to be let down. He rings the bell just to go outside and sit for no reason, not pee. Or he rings the bell then runs off around the house with no interest at all in going outside. He chews on the carpet, and sometimes even tries to hump our arms if we try to play with him to distract him. It's insane! His "moods" are horrible!

We have a few of solutions that sometimes work: First, the amazing magical bully stick. A fresh one of those can occupy him for 20+ minutes until he forgets how insane he is. A fresh flossie (funny looking spiraled bully stick type thing) will entertain him for close to an hour, then he's usually worn out enough to lay on one of laps and fall asleep. Second, we sometimes invite the neighbor dog over... he patiently lets Nikko torture him for an hour or so, and by then Nikko is worn out or at least over his "mood." Third, sometimes a walk works to burn off some of the craziness. However, the craziness sometimes makes walking impossible because he just digs his heels in and refuses to walk at all if there's something else he thinks he wants in the opposite direction.

It sounds like many puppies do this type of thing, and the sugar idea is something I'd never thought of - makes sense though! We're switching Nikko over to a higher protein, less carbs (therefore less sugar) diet. It'll be interesting to see if that makes any difference.

It is very comforting to read these threads and see that you are not alone! Our guy is nine months old. We have been nick naming him Titus the terrorist. He knows he is to use the litter box, but chooses to go on the floor next to it. I can't believe how many paper towel rolls I go through. He barks and chews on his bed/basket in the middle of the night, and then looks at you with those adorable eyes. I think that they are so lucky that they are so adorable!

Keely gets like that if she doesnt get enough excersize. She gets bored before bed.

Is yo0ur dog getting alot of excersize during the day??
At least 5 minutes of training to stimulate the brain?
Maybe throw a ball/toy around before he starts acting up to wera him out.

Honestly, youur dog is showing signs of bordom. A tired dog is a happy dog.

We tried litter box training; but Rufus just kept eating the pellets! I know what you are going to say-for me to buy the bitter apple spray...TRIED IT! The "ruthless" ate them anyways. ;)

Nope, I'm not going to suggest the bitter spray. I tried it too and the terrorist just ate it as well!

I know you guys are all suffering, but I can't help but smile while reading your stories! Charlie has been a good boy, except when we go outside to potty. He will run around and bark at anything. He even pretends to use the potty so he'll get his treat! So I always double check his privates and ONLY give him his favorite treat if he has gone. When he knows I'm really super upset with his behavior, he will give himself a timeout and I completely ignore him. I recommend that when your baby makes me mad, just tell him "No", put him on his pad and completely ignore him for about 15min. I hope that works.

Gucci went through a period of "bad dog" and we decided that the best way to beat it was to put more time into his training. He now walks about 4 times a day, at least 1/2 mile each time. We make sure he has a play time twice a day as well, and forget about training when he's ready to play. I've learned that when he sits in front of us whining, it doesn't necessarily mean that he want up. We're still learning his signals and hopefully you will as well. Yesterday, I had the brilliant idea to try the bell at the door trick. While in Steinmart, they had the cutest little stuffed dog (about a foot long and 3" around with bells on the bottom feet, specifically for training. Unfortunately, Gucci is too little to reach, but I've been lifting him to give him the idea to jump at it. I'm thinking he's afraid of the bells! Time will tell and I'm not ready to give up. Maybe he won't sit and whine when he needs a walk! At almost 9 months, he's 4 # of love, and again lucky that he's sooo cute! We've made great strides in the potty training area, but he still will have an occasional booboo. By the way, he went through regression at about 5 months. Good luck.

Samson does this with my 7 year old son. My son, Sean, will run down the hall, Samson runs right behind him growling and biting (playfully) and wont STOP! I have to physically take Samson off of Sean. He gets to where he's "attacking" him. But it's always playful, not mean. The problem is that he doesn't stop even when we say "no Samson". And he's tearing holes in my son's clothes!! :(
