Belly Bands I have a new puppy, a 12 week old male chihuahua. I purchased a few belly bands, although it seems like he wiggles out of them. What's the trick to keeping them on? |
Bumping for you...... |
about belly bands I aam just curious, what are those belly bands for? When we were looking for our Yorkie, we went to a house that had belly bands on the males, I asked the breeder why are those bands on them?, she said because she has a female in heet, my daughter said they use them on the males so they don't pee everywhere, could someone fill me in. |
Yes Belly bands can be used when a female is in heat.......with our Smokey they are used for both.......he wears them 24/7...........he is mommy's widdle leg cocker...........hicks his leg on everything..................so he wears them all the time........as for the OP........with chi's you have a different shape in that area.......so you will probably have to have the kind with elastic so it doesnt gap........also make sure they are pretty tight............good luck |
I gave up on the belly bands. Call me crazy but I used an ace bandage. I cut a pad in thirds and put the pad about 6 inches away from the end then wrapped it around him and used the metal clips that come with the bandage to hold it on him. It has worked really well. |

What if you cut the ace bandage the girth of your puppy, then sew it to make a circle. Slip it under the puppy's feet and around the girth, put in the absorbant pad, then put the BBand over it so you'd have a design. I was just trying to think of a way not to use the clips. Mine might try to eat those. Maybe I could make a plain black one for the ace bandage. Then get a black/white bow tie for his neck and it would look like a mini tux. Just a cumberband and a bow tie. That would be cute. Thanks for posting blueangel32 |
Thank you for telling about the ace bandage!!!! Im house sitting a unneutered male and needed a belly band for him and that was a perfect idea that I could do immediately. Great Idea |
