frustrated! Oh gosh, this morning has been a morning full of accidents. Charlie pee in his crate and then pee all over the house this morning. Work up at 5:50 to take him out however he has already pee in his crate..last night, i took him out to do his busy before bedtime..anyways, this is the second time he pee in his crate...at around 11 we went outside for bathroom break again. Then that is where the accidents start..he first pee on the carpet..then pee in the kitchen..then pee in his crate again (i cleaned and washed his crate this morning before putting him back in it)..i am so frustrated with him! i don't know why he is acting up today...we went outside..he saw this stranger and started running to him...argh! |
How old is he? How long have you had him? How much does he weigh? You should not asllow him unsupervised run of the house until he isd trained. When he is out of his pen he must be supervised every second. You can gate him into the kitchen, or get an x pen and put a pee pad in it. If he is not learning it is because he does not understand what you want him to do. |
It Will Get Better You've got a crate and that's an important part of training. Crate training means Charlie is to be kept in his crate and brought outside on a schedule. Keep notes so you know how long between potty times. I once read a puppy could be expected to wait one hour for every month of his age before needing to pee. So first start with an hourly schedule and always take him out after he wakes up and after playing with him. If the crate is big enough for him to pee in it and still have room to get away from the pee, put a piece of cardboard or a box that he can't move in it to make the crate smaller. That helped us a lot. Keep him in an area that's easier to clean, one without carpet if possible. Try to catch him "in the act" of peeing inside, say "no," and bring him out saying "do pee-pee." That helps the pup to make the connection. When cleaning his mistakes, don't use bleach as it's not going to eliminate the scent to the dog. Use a cleaner made for doggie mistakes. They usually smell pretty good too. It takes lots and lots and lots of patience and not one bit of anger on your part no matter how frustrated you get. It will get better...let us know how it goes. |
charlie is going to be 4 months on the 18th...i have him since christmas. We have been doing fine with crate potty training until today. Charlie just won't bark or anything so I don't know when he needs to go. I can't wait until he is train. I am just frustrated b/c this is the only place where I am actually getting the right kind of support I need with this puppy. My husband got Charlie for me but will not do anything with him. Nobody else wants to help me. My husband yells at me all the time when something goes wrong and that doesn't really help me. It is so frustrating with charlie in itself already and to have no support from my husband makes everything worse for me.. |
