Help with belly bands What do you do if your little furbaby hates his belly bands. If I put one on him he constantly tries to get it off---many times he succeeds. Will he eventually get use to it? Or is he just not cut out for them? |

He'll get used to it after a while. As long as it's not tight or bothering his peepee he will get used to it What I did with Cody was put his belly band on and then I put a onesie over it (I still do that when the girls are in heat too) |
Belly Bands Don't give up Jack who has been wearing belly bands now for over a year still hates when I put them on but he gets over it. They will adjust, be sure to fasten good and if he takes it off put it back on. He will get over it... cheryl:animal-pa:aimeeyork |
I am interested in these belly bands...does that mean the pup will never learn to be house trained if it gets so used to pee'ing into their band?? I would love to use one on my Snickers since he can't seem to hold it while we are at work for even 2.5 hours! But I don't want him to think it's ok to pee whenever, where ever. -Viv:animal-pa |
? I have no idea :) I am a new yorkie mom myself. I'm glad you asked, I have been wondering about that myself. Maybe someone will let us both know. Cathy ;) |
what is a belly band? I am also a new yorkie owner. I have a male yorkie so maybe this is something i should know about. |
My boy doesn't mind his belly band. I have wondered if I've slowed his potty training though - not because he gets used to going in it but because it is easier for me to get lazy and not get him to his potty area every hour like I should. |
A belly band is a wrap you place around the male. It goes over his pennie (that's what we call it at my house) and wraps onto the back usually held by velcro. They are used to help with controlling incontinence issues. You can buy belly bands with an absorbent lining built in or buy belly bands you place a sanitary napkin in to absorb the urine. I use it because Finnigan is housebroken, but the little devil started marking "his territory" after we moved. It also is helpful for breeders to help control their males when their females are in heat. I think Finnigan thinks its part of his usual clothing, he'll come in from outside and wait for me to put it back on him. |
Thanks much! I'll keep trying. It's a small problem compared with the love and joy I get from my babies! :thumbs up Cathy |
you could try giving him a little treat everytime you put the belly band on or change him?? That way he'll associate it as a good thing. worth a shot:confused: |
My boy is over 2 years old and he is the same way. So I had to resort to clips. Please check out my posting which includes pictures: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ml#post2421925 |
I crate trained Hiro and use the belly band ONLY when he has free time in the house! He piddled in it once earlier on during his training when I thought that he was ready for more freedom (but he wasn't lol) I learned quickly to use the overnight sanitary napkin and NOT a teeny panty liner! :O lolol He doesnt bother with it at all and knows that he gets to run around the house when I approach him to put it on! |
Romeo does not mind a BB. Thank goodness b/c he is a marking man. |
Thank goodness for BB's...My Baron is a Making Fool ever since he hit puberty!!! He loves his "Mr. Wiggles Wrap" and stands patiently while I put it on... When he's wet he comes to me to be changed!! If I'm not paying attention he'll wiggle out of it and bring it to me!! He won't let me know when he needs to go out, But, He brings a dirty BB to me...Go Figure... LOL:) |
