When I yell, he barks. When I holler in the other room for my kids, Maximus ALWAYS barks. Do you think I am hurting his ears when I holler? or just that he hears a loud noise and wants to join in? He rarely barks for no reason. The only other times he barks is in the a.m. after the sun comes up (to tell me "let me out of my crate") and when he hears dh coming home (he drives a big truck and Maximus gets hysterical until dh goes in there and plays with him). He just started this the other night. |
Hmm... I have two cats, and whenever my mom used to yell at my brother or sister, the cats would come running to see what was wrong. They would usually jump on my mom and purr real loudly... it was like they were seeing what's up. Maybe that's what Maximus is doing in some fashion... |
think thats why good trainers, like cesar and jan fennell will always tell you to stay calm and not to shout. ie..'Calm and assertive'. I think your dog is sensing something in your raised voice and joining in, with excitement or panic. |
Sometimes when I raise my voice Chachi will bark also. I think he is just responding to the excitement |
I think he is telling YOU to use your indoor voice!:D My husband brought a cat into our marriage...whenever we were arguing...that damn cat would bite ME on the ankle! |

When my skinkids are misbehaving and I count to 5 our furbaby comes running and barking as if to yell at them too! Its hilarious. By the time I get to two she is there barking at them as if counting with me. |

and he used to do the same thing But it got to the point that all I had to do was yell Help Toby! and he'd go run over to my brother and bite him Good Dog  |
I think they really are sensitive. If I raise my voice Piper puts his tails between his legs, and puts his head down like he's done something wrong. |
