mama quit nursing I will not explain again why I took her at 5 weeks, all I can say is she is doing great and we have had not had one single problem, if you go back from the beginning I already explained why I did it. All I will say she is in a much better place and she is dearly loved!!If I knew how to add picture of Lucy from my phone I would send picture of her |
Sounds more like a rescue to me. Under the circumstances and living conditions this wee lil pup was living in, I would have done the same thing in your shoes. To me, that is a rescue. Let me make this very clear to all that may read this thread, NO, taking a 5 week old puppy from it's mother is not what should be done, and, in the USA it is against the law to sell a puppy under 7 weeks old. It's also very dangerous to take a puppy that young, dangerous for the puppy. But, sometimes you run into situations like arlene Baker where taking a wee lil baby home is safer then leaving it in filthy living conditions where the puppy is left in a filthy kiddie pool with big dogs running about. Sounds like this baby is more then well cared for, and living in clean quarters and loved much. Sounds like this lil baby is doing very well. We would LOVE to see pics of baby Lucy. To post pics to YT they must be 200KB or under I upload my cell pics to my computer in a picture folder below is a free down sizing site that I use, i have included the instructions. Resize Photos Online - The Free and Easy Way to Shrink Photos and Compress Jpeg Pictures Open resize photo on line 1-Top of page CLICK resize photo 2-STEP 1-Select photo double click to open 3-STEP 2 change pixels to 600 set QUALITY to 65 % 4-Click up load and resize photo (this may take a while) when it finishes 5-Click apply setting and generate photo 6-Click down load image 7-Click on SAVE this will save in your download folder I use the settings of # 3 you can then post a pic on YT |

Thanks Hi I tried to post picture of Lucy but when I tried to it said I could not download any |
well I downsized photo now how do I add it here? |
Hi I personally wouldn't leave a 7 week old pup on its own for 8 hour's, I have 3 dogs and wouldn't leave them 8 hours without arranging a son/friend/neighbour to pop in and out or a dog sitter, 7 weeks is way to early for a pup to leave its mum, she would only just be weaning, puppies are lovely but I would consider that you wouldn't leave a baby on its own without a minder. After getting someone to pop in and out you could also get a baby monitor to look at on your mobile, have you had a dog before |
not sure who you are taking to but our puppy Lucy will NEVER be left alone for any amount of time as we are both retired and home all the time one of us is always home' I feel like no one should get a puppy while they are working all day. how can a puppy learn anything that way |

I was actually commenting on the original poster's comments regarding 7 week old puppy being left alone while they went to work, you say you collected your puppy at 5 weeks, not the best situation but if the little one has managed to make it to 7 weeks and your with her all the time I'm sure you are doing everything right, if she's eating and drinking and she's seen the vet the chances are Lucy will do very well. As its been pointed out to you her inoculations shouldn't be carried out before 8 weeks and even then the vet will only do it if she/he is satisfied she's healthy weight wise and in body. I know through working with rescues that sometimes mum will abandone her pups for no apparent reason and its no good forcing her as that can lead to her attacking them and even killing them. I'm glad your furbaby has a good caring home and it would be a good idea when she is all safe about 12 weeks to take her to a puppy socialising class |
thanks thank you |

Point well made Taylor. Can we just move on and hopefully watch this little baby grow and thrive, and be there for the OP if she should need the communities advise, suggestions in the future. |

Seven weeks is way too young to bring a yorkie home. Hope all goes well for you but the breeder should of let your puppy go at twelve weeks or more. Susan |

A new OP (arlene Baker) made a comment on 1/19/2018 #17 read from there and you will see why this pup was gotten at a young age. |
Rather funny now I was getting all this advice on how I was suppose to deal with taking a puppy so young but she is doing amazing, and now I see the one giving all the great advice is having problems Good Luck my Lucy is going in her little carrying case and doing great she is 9 weeks old now :) |

separation Anxiety well I do not understand that separation anxiety thing as my sister keeps telling me to quit giving Lucy so much attention that she will get that ,now you are saying it is from taking her from her mother to soon,I will have to read up on that,as I do not want to see Lucy go thru that . My niece adopted a border collie that had that but when my niece would leave in in the car for 5 minutes she tore the inside of the car up, in that short of a time she did huge amount of damage, while my niece was at work, she loves animals and was really trying to help this one, but she just couldn't keep her very sad, and she was a vet tech at the time  |

Thanks I love hearing things about yorkies so any info is important to me. I have never had a yorkie before , I am not sure what kind of breeder I got my yorkie from really, I just know the dad was a yorkie and the mama was a cute yorkie, I know she loves animals and that she kept her mama well groomed, by the groomer. The one thing I did notice was the house was not that clean and they were still in a swimming pool that was not that clean. I was very glad that I could get Lucy as soon as she called me. she told me they were already weaned and were eating good on there own' When I brought Lucy home she was so happy to have her own little bed and her clean little place . she never cried at all for her mama and siblings, and I am very impressed at how smart she is so I think she will be o.k. sorry if I came across nasty, but I was catching so much fuss about how old she was when I brought her home:) we are in our seventy's and was not going to get another dog after our sweet Gracie died in May, but oh so glad my niece found this little one for us,she is the sweetest, fiesty bundle of energy! |

Oh Boy! What a dysfunctional breeder breeding a four pound yorkie. I hope you spay your little baby and learned some stuff about purchasing a yorkie. On the last post she recommended buying insurance and I think it would be wise for you to buy it. Well best wishes with your yorkie ! Susan |
