Unexpected Peeing in the House????? I know there's probably a few threads that're similiar to this so forgive me if anyone gets annoyed. Sasha is 1 year & 2 months. She's my first dog & I've had her since she was 9 or 10 weeks old. Potty training was definitely my most concerned problem with having a dog. When I first started out, I think I went through almost every process possible. First, I had her just going on newspaper inside because of how cold it was outside when I first had her since she was so young. After awhile, I decided to try the pee pads, which for the most part she used, but after awhile she decided she wanted to shred them. I eventually changed to crate training. Everytime she went outside and peed, I'd praise her tons and give her a treat right away. She began doing very well with the crate training. She would go by the door to let us know she had to go, but sometimes we'd have the problem where we'd be in another room & she'd go by the door but wouldn't bark to let us know, so she'd pee right by the door. I did some research on bell training & decided to give it a shot. Within 2 days, she got the hang of it & shes been using that ever since. Lately, today especially, suddenly she's deciding to pee in the house with no warning! She prances around the house and instead of going to the door, she'll just pee! I noticed her prancing earlier and so I said to her, "Sasha, gotta go outside?" and she ran to the door, so I ran and grabbed her leash and was getting ready to take her out and she just peed right in front of me! I immediately put her in the crate and said no. I just don't understand why all of a sudden she's deciding to pee in the house! My mom is wondering if maybe she's protesting me not being home as often as I normally am? I had to pick up a 2nd job unfortunetely because of cut hours but I didn't think she'd take that much of an impact. I hope someone can help me out a little bit or give a little advice. Thanks! |
Whenever a housebroken dog starts peeing in the house a vet visit in in order. Quite often they have a urinary tract infection. You need the rule out a physical cause first. |
Although I'm not a big fan of crate training(I always used an xpen), if you're crate training, you don't want to put her in her crate for peeing on the floor. She could have a uti or she could be pissed at you for not being home. Dogs will do things they don't normally do when they get pissed at you |

By this time you probably know her schedule for the bathroom, so take her out when you know she has to go. If she doesn't go crate her for 15 minutes and take her outside again. This is what I have been doing for the last three weeks (almost) and we only had two accidents (one pee one poo on the same day). I left him with my mom for a few hours which was a BIG mistake and I should have just put him in the crate. Good luck, and don't give up! |
unexpected peeing you may call this the submissive urination as your pet dog seems to be showing some symptoms, losing bladder control on some emotions or extreme emotions. try to check the article, it's useful:) |
