Oh No, she bit the groomer! I am very concerned, because one year old Yorki Poo Mocha bit the groomer today when she was having her nails trimmed. She has been to this same groomer since she was a puppy for a total of six times and has never bitten before now. She did bite me about a month ago when I tried to take a piece of bone out of her mouth. She growled once as a warning. When she bit me, it wasn't hard and didn't draw blood. The groomer said she didn't draw blood either, but I don't like that my dog is biting at all. Both situations were threatening, so that makes me feel a little better. She's a very friendly dog and loves people. Should I be concerned? Can a groomer sue me or ask that my dog be put down if she were to get bitten in the future? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love my dog and don't want her biting me or anyone else. Thanks! |

You need to consult a trainer asap to see if you can correct her aggression. |
yes.... this sounds like aggression and it's coming from insecurity Whenever a dog feels insecure or scared they are likely to bite like when they are having their nails cut Warn your groomers so they have the choice of putting a muzzle on him You need to work on his socialization if he has a chew toy play with it with him The MINUTE he growls or shows agression take it away and make a loud noise so he knows that was the defining moment samething with food This sounds like it's in the early stages so it should be easier to correct |
I reread your older posts and it sounds like your trainer in puppy class said Mocha was being defiant last Spring. I think what you are seeing is an escalation of that behavior. She's in charge and she knows it. I would try the Nothing in Life is Free program. Nothing in Life is Free If that doesn't work, you need to consult a behaviorist. I looked up South Carolina law and you are legally liable for any damages or injuries. If she continues to bite, the State could declare her a dangerous dog and impound her. |
