Help my yorkie is hyterical My usually sweet Yorkie becomes hysterical wheneven my wife and myself are either in the car or out together. At home she is fine and when either of us are only alone with her. Any suggestions are really appreciated |
Are you talking about your baby being scared when you are taking a drive in the car with her? Is she feeling insecure? Do you need to tightly wrap a blanket around her to make her feel secure? All four of mine are always safely secured in doggie car seats. Hopefully after the Christmas business has calmed down maybe someone who is more educated will offer a solution. Good luck and Merry Christmas. ~Joanne~ |
My baby is hyterical Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't keep her in a crate etc in the car. In fact I know this is very bad but she has never been in a crate period . Josi also becomes hyterical when my wife and I are together. We have to separate from each other so that Josi is ok. I have placed her tightly inside my coat both in the car and when my wife and I are together. At home she is perfect and really sweet. As I am writing this she is on the floor at my feet in lion position with her head resting. Any help is really appreciated. I do tend to carry her and pick her up lots. She does play with other dogs. Her boyfriend is a 150lb German Sheppard Josi is the boss with her buddy Kona |
No, I don't have a crate in the car. I actually have doggie car seats that they get strapped into so they can look out. Sounds like you love your baby a lot and you're trying to make him feel as secure as you know how. There are also meds that you can give doggies to calm them down. I have one that is on meds every day for anxiety. She's originally from a puppy mill.:( ~Joanne~ |
When we take Hope and Rio in the car, we put them both in a doggie shoulder bag that is secured by the seatbelt. They seem more secure and happy :D in there than using the car doggie seat we have for them. Good luck! |
My baby is hyterical Thanks everyone. What is a shoulder bag? I have also noticed that Josi was much better last nite. I started to take her on long walk before the drive and put a harness on her. She also does this when I am with my wife together whether we are in the car or not thanks Again. !! |
shoulder bag :DI call our pet carrier a shoulder bag - sorry! It is soft and has a shoulder attachment. |

We, too, use a Snoozer carseat for Shelby & Seymour. It really helped Shelby as far as her getting nervous. Now she (and Seymour) are secured in harnesses and "buckled" in AND they can see out the window. We also learned from Shelby's Physical therapy doctor (when she had LP surgery) that by rubbing a drip of pure lavendar oil between your fingers and then rubbing the tips of their ears helps with calming them. (We got the lavendar oil from GNC and it is ALL natural). The smell of the lavendar is all it took for Shelby when she went to therapy...... |
