Closing Doors I used to have a (female) dog that if there was a room and the door was closed and she wanted to go in she would just (as every dog does) open the door. But after walking in she turned around and close the door again. That proved to be very useful to me, but i hadn't trained her to do so and i was wondering if there's a way to train my yorkie to do that. |
Do you mean literally open and close a door or just move it slightly shut? Because there's no way a Yorkie could reach the door knob.. ;) |
Now, my shih tzu closes the door from the family room to the garage, but, no way could she jump up and turn the knob to open it. when she thinks you're leaving her, she runs as fast as she can and jumps half way up the door and slams it shut, then runs back and grabs whatever is near and shakes it, she's already gotten a couple fingers..:( I wish she would stop doing this, afraid one day one of the other dogs may be in the way |
I can't imagine a Yorkie opening a door, but my cat opens doors :). Maybe a gigantic Yorkie, or if there is like something to pull. That would be a sight to see! |
I guess i had to be more specific from the beginning. I don't mean close the door using the knob, i just mean to move it slightly shut. And yes a yorkie can open the door (only if its slightly shut though) but i want my yorkie to close it the same way he opens it. Thanks. |
Well, once you get that one figured out, try working with him on picking all the toys back up and putting them in to his toy box, then, let me know how it worked. That's the one I'm trying to work on |
