Serious Problem, Please Help! My puppy Dude, who is 5 months old has been on and off good about potty training. He'll use his potty pads and when he gets to play outside he'll potty there. The Problem: When he isn't being good about using the pads, he'll potty in strange places. He's pooped on a chair before, peeded on our bed, and just tonight he peed on my lap. I have no idea what to do about this, and I'm completely stressed out. has anyone else's yorkie done this? my brother's gf brought over her yorkie a couple days ago and she pooped on the arm of our couch completley at random but her mom says she's never done anything like that before. please share experiences and give me hope and advise, I love my little guy to death but this is beyond any of my previous puppy experiences. :( |
My Yorkie has done the potty in weird places, when she was younger. She is 4 yrs old. They are like kids, where ever, when ever, & how ever. I admit, I didn't let her out as much as I should have then. She is potty trained now though. I had hardwood floors so it was easy to clean then. Now I have a new house with mostly carpet and I just bought another baby whom is 14 weeks old. The trick is to let the baby out every hour. It can be hard, and yes, you will get tired of going out so much. The more the better :) I am up right now at 4 am to let my new baby outside to go potty. In almost 24 hours she has had 1 accident on the carpet that was right next to a potty pad. Every other time she went potty outside!!! I am thankful!! If it is cold where you live buy a sweater for your baby so the don't get cold faster and so Dude will sniff around longer for a place to potty outside. Make sure you say good potty outside and bring pup in when you think they are done. Right now outside should be for potty only, not playtime. Be persistent . . Hope this helps :D |
Sounds like your puppy isn't very good at holding it very well yet and if he pee'd on your lap he might be getting incintinenet when he gets excited that happens with some dogs Best keep him off the furniture for awhile and keep up the training both potty training and house training |
As far as my experiences go, Sylar has been good about his housebreaking up until now. He's still a puppy so..it's understandable accidents happen. It's also my fault because I haven't been as consistent as I had started out. He had so many accidents in the house yesterday and it was the first time like that. We would take him outside to use the restroom then when he came back inside he'd pee again in like half an hour. |
