My baby is driving me crazy! I know there are subjects on housetraining, but I am new here and am VERY frustrated with my little guy! Please read the status on Pico: ·Pico will be two years old on December 24th. We got Pico when he was 8 weeks old from a Home Breeder. ·Pico is crate trained and sleep in his crate at night time. ·We let him go outside to relieve himself every 45 minutes or when he scratches to go outside. ·We now keep him confined to the kitchen area. ·He is now in a fenced-in area in the kitchen. ·We have two female Yorkies – One is a senior, Jasmine. She is 12 years old and Pico kept “trying to have sex with her and would NOT leave him alone” that we got Pico a wife to play with. ·His wife, “Ms. Diva” is only 9 months old (Birthday is March 3rd) He plays with her all the time but now trying to “have sex with her too” ALL the time!!!! ·We have had Yorkies for 13 years and have been successful with their potty training BUT NOT with Pico! WE LOVE Pico, BUT he is driving me crazy! EVERY TIME I let him outside and he does his deed… He comes in to urinate ALL over everything! I mean… the walls, corners, doors, furniture, lamps, chairs…back packs, shoes, boots……etc….etc! He does this even AFTER we let him outside! Now I have to confine him in a little fenced in area and he is crying ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the time! I do not know what I should do! I have tried everything!!!! By the way, we had another Male Yorkie, Julio (Jasmine’s husband. Julio was 12.5 years old and fully potty trained) that passed away February 20, 2006. We got Pico a few months after Julio passed away. We thought perhaps he was marking his territory because he still smells Julio around the house?? This has been going on since we got him! PLEASE any advice would be appreciated! I truly have tried EVERYTHING and cannot take it anymore! I LOVE him so much, but my sanity may make me give him away! THANK YOU for listening to me  Sincerely, Debbie My email is: arena@twmi.rr.com |
Has Pico been neutered? |
What about using a Belly Band on him? That way he wont ruin your house....and he may just give up trying to mark your house up after a while of wearing it. Also the belly band might stop him from humping your other dog.?? Might be worth a shot! |
Ohhh Thank you for the replies! No, he is not neutered. We plan to breed Pico and Ms. Diva. We have a Waiting List for their puppies. What is a Belly Band? I have never heard of that... I look forward to the answer! I am almost at the point to put a diaper on him! Here is what my little guy looks like: |

If he hasn't been neutered, I would do it. Also, I would use an enzyme cleaner all over your house - carpets, furniture, etc...if he is marking because he smells your old male dog, it should help because it will eliminate the old dog's scent. |
Belly Band I have a 1-1/2 yorkie male and he marks on everything but I have learned and trusted Belly Bands. Mind you its a pain but its Worth it. I use pose pads its just for urine,. You will love them. Cheryl |
He's marking .... This is a male dog doing what male dogs do You might wanna consider neutering Clean the marking spots really good with a dog deodorizer and then if you have time bring him to an area where other dogs congregate that might give him the incentive to mark and not do it in your house |
I went to YouTube to see what a Belly Band looked like..... I wanted to do something ASAP, so, for now, I cut an old sock in half and used the "tube" side and slipped it around Pico! It is snug on him and it is covering the "part" that we needed to cover. Somehow, it is a better feeling that he cannot urinate on anything but himself! As for the humping part, I took the tube-sock off of him when it was time to go to sleep (crate), but he was crying allllllllllllllllllllllll night because he wanted to get at Ms. Diva. I ended up having Ms. Diva sleep with me (she has her own crate next to his). With that being said, it is still a good feeling that the tube sock is preventing him to "do the deed"! I plan to find those Belly Bands around town or make them myself. THANK YOU for all the great advice! If it weren’t for this board, I would never have known what a Belly Band was! ;) |
Belly Band 1 Attachment(s) I found some neat ones in this fourm. In the market section I think or you can find some on E-bay. Cheap! I also found some at Petco. But I like the home-made ones. Good Luck Cheryl/Jack/Bella:animal-pa Jack wears his all the time. |
