Pup plays with his teeth Kingston is 7 months and when he plays he plays with his teeth... meaning he likes to nip and pretend to bite. Do I like this? Not so much! I'm worried when he gets around my little nieces and nephews he's going to want to "play" and they're going to get hurt :( So far we just tell him "No" when he does it and stop playing with him. It usually works, but again, only if we're on his case 24/7  Do you think he'll stop doing this when he gets neutered?? If not, what can I do to let him know biting is not part of our playtime? |
Well, I'll be waiting on replies to this one!! My Lily is only 4 months - but WOW her little razors are sharp! I too worry when my little grandsons come over that she will nip... She also is playing when she goes after our feet or hands while cuddling and playing. But, I just don't heal like I used too!!! Help for BOTH of us! :yeahthat: |
Have you brought Kingston around your niece or nephew yet? Cause i had the same fear with Pasquale. He loves to use his teeth when playing with my husband and I. But its so weird...as soon as he see's a kid....he wont nip at all. He turns to licking mode LOL I was amazed when I brought Pasquale around my nephew...it's almost like he knew he was a baby just like him and should be gentle. |

Aw that's sweet! No we haven't had a chance yet to bring him around kids, but we do tote him around everywhere we go and when the little kids go to pet him he's always really nice with them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! |
Whenever he puts teeth on you harder than you'd like, I would let out a loud "YIKE!" noise (like a puppy yelping in pain) and proceed to ignore him for a few minutes. This is how I'm training Ollie in bite inhibition and it's working really well. He'll almost always lick after he gets this treatment. |
