Crate training my 11 year old Yorkie girl?:confused: She potties outside & pees on the pads inside, but lately poops  on the rugs in the living & dinning rooms when home alone. My fault..., never crate trained and now I am getting her a puppy sister :aimeeyork , 6 months old crate and pad trained. I need HELP!!! |
An eleven year old is the equivalent of a 60 year old human. You cannot start shutting her in a crate now. At her age adding a puppy to your household will be very stressful. You will have to take extra care to make sure she can adjust to having a new family member, not the other way around. |
Can you try to just keep them confined to a tiled area, like the kitchen? Or maybe one of those big round fenced areas - Soft Sided Ex Pen - Mesh Ex Pens - It's A Breeze Too Ex Pens When I got Pebbles, she came with a small 2' X 3' crate. And she never had to use it again!! Thankfully, I have a good sized kitchen to keep the girls in when we're not home for long periods :) Good luck to you & the pups! |
I agree with both the above posters. She's getting older now and these things happen. Too many changes in her life would be extremely hard on her. Has there been any changes in her food? I'd ask your Vet... it might be time to change her to something else. I know I can't tolerate some of the foods I used to - maybe she's going through the same thing. :p Good Luck! I hope you can get this resolved before the new puppy arrives. |
